MEET "BELLA", THE SHOP MASCOT...in her own words, of course ;) ....
Hi there! Let me introduce myself. My name is Bella Le Caniche Rose. That means The Beautiful Pink Poodle, in French…but most people just call me Bella, for short. I’m a white standard poodle underneath, but I like it when my mom keeps me pink and dresses me in tutus, bows & feathers. It makes me feel all pretty.
Let me tell you my story. Although I’m very happy these days, life hasn't always been good for me. I used to belong to a mean old backyard breeder in NC. My home was more like a prison cell. I lived in a smelly, muddy 10’ x 10’ outdoor chain link kennel. I never got to have any vet care, grooming, socialization or shelter from the elements. I rarely had decent food or fresh water. I was a dirty, matted mess. I was very sick & neglected. I was afraid of people, because I was never able to trust anyone before. The people that owned me didn’t really care about me at all. They were going to use me as a “doodle” breeder dog. When I was 1½ years old, my mom discovered me and came to my rescue. She saved me from those irresponsible backyard breeder people. She took me to the vet and got me all better and cleaned me up. Now I’m healthy & beautiful. I don’t know what I did that was so bad to make those breeder people treat me so mean, but mom told me I didn’t do anything bad….that I’m a good girl and I just ended up in the wrong hands. I’m so glad she saved me. Today, I’m so happy, cared for & loved. I guess you could even say I’m spoiled. But I’m a dog. I’m supposed to be spoiled, right?
I'm lucky because my mom is a Professional Pet Stylist/Colorist. She brushes me every day, baths me every week and clips my hair every 4 weeks. She likes to keep me pink. I like it too, because I get to be beautiful & unique and I get lots of attention from everyone who sees me. Being a Pink Poodle sure has it’s benefits.
I’m a pretty active dog and I like to get involved in pet related events in my community. I’m a Certified Therapy Dog and worked for 4 years through H.A.B.I.T (Human Animal Bond In Tennessee), making my dedicated weekly rounds at ETCH (East Tennessee Children’s Hospital). I’m retired now, but I loved to visit the patients every week. I put a smile on their faces and that made me very happy. I would also go to people’s homes with my mom to do children’s birthday parties. She disguised herself as different characters…like a clown, princess, fairy & nifty fifties. My job was to look pretty and entertain the kids. We had contests and played games. My mom even did balloon sculpturing & face painting. We always had a lot of fun. Being retired these days has it’s perk, but I sure do miss my job.
These days, I still attended lots of fund raising & community events…from dog parks to cancer walks. If there’s something going on, chances are…you’ll see me there.
I was informed, recently, that I was the most photographed dog in East Tennessee. Many of my photos can be found in newspapers & magazines, but most are being shared all over the internet, all over the world! I would love to be able to see some of those photos of me with my friends. If you have a photo of me, please feel free to “like” our page and share your photo on our wall.
Thanks and I’m looking forward to meeting you and having you as my friend!
Love, "Bella" Le Caniche Rose
Please share your "Bella" pictures on our wall. We love to see new photos with our new friends.
