It’s National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

Do your dogs love to chase squirrels? Just be careful because fence running, chasing balls, and squirrel chasing can lead to tearing of the cruciate ligament (ACL in humans). The most common situation is when dogs are running in one direction and then change directions quickly.

We have a surgical option for repair though! Dr. Goebel is now performing TPLO surgery for pets in the Tri-Cities with cruciate tears!

Give us a call if you’d like to schedule a consult!

Due to inclement weather ❄️ we are going to close a little early tonight (5:20pm) to allow our staff to make it home safely. We are so sorry for any inconvenience! We plan on being back open at 7am tomorrow.

Amie is an absolutely amazing technician!

During this week we want to acknowledge our Licensed Veterinary Technicians. They have gone through school and licensing exams and play a major role in making things happen every day!

Amie has been with VVH for several years and is a huge advocate for patients! She loves learning about pain management and anesthesia.

Amie also has the cutest baby around! His name is Sebastian and he turned one recently! We absolutely love it when he comes to visit during our monthly staff meetings!

Meet Candi!!

Candi is a very special piece of the Vista Veterinary puzzle!

During this week we want to acknowledge our Licensed Veterinary Technicians. They have gone through school and licensing exams and play a major role in making things happen every day!

Candi spends her time outside of VVH helping with Prevent Homeless Pets Spay & Neuter and that helps fuel her fire! She’s got a spitfire sense of humor and loves her true crime documentaries!

Candi also loves helping our techs-in-training learn the ropes of technician life. She’s an asset to us and we wouldn’t trade her for anything!

We appreciate her so much!!!

🚨 Important Pet Safety Alert: Toxic Algae in the Columbia River! 🚨

🌊 As much as we love spending time by the water with our furry friends, we want to ensure their safety. There have been reports of toxic algae blooms in the Columbia River, which can be harmful to both pets and humans. 🐾

🔴 What You Need to Know:
Toxic algae, also known as cyanobacteria, can produce harmful toxins that pose a serious risk to pets if ingested. Symptoms of exposure include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, difficulty breathing, and even seizures. These toxins can be fatal if not treated promptly.

🛑 Protect Your Pets:

Stay Informed: Keep an eye on local news and health advisories about water quality in the Columbia River.

Avoid Contact: Until the water is declared safe, it's best to keep your pets away from any water sources where the algae may be present.

No Drinking: Prevent your pets from drinking or swimming in water that might be contaminated.

Seek Veterinary Care: If you suspect your pet has been exposed to toxic algae, seek immediate veterinary attention. Early intervention is crucial. For emergencies, we highly recommend Mid-Columbia Pet Emergency Service in Pasco.

🌿 Prevention is Key:
While we await the all-clear, let's focus on prevention. Make sure your pets are staying hydrated with clean, safe water at all times. If you're unsure about the water quality in a particular area, it's better to be cautious and keep your pets away.

📢 Spread the Word:
Share this information with your fellow pet parents to ensure everyone's four-legged companions stay safe. Our pets rely on us to keep them out of harm's way, and together we can protect them from potential dangers.

At Vista Veterinary Hospital, we care deeply about your pets' well-being. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to us. Stay safe, and let's look out for each other and our furry friends! 🐶🐱💙

If you leave your pup with us it might get carried around like a baby! Mikey's Chance Canine Rescue

We had our monthly staff meeting today and there was a point during it that most of our surgery patients for the day were being carried around like babies! It was a great day!

I think our technician Shelley made the best makeshift carrier!

Look who came to visit us today! These three little babies are part of Mikey's Chance Canine Rescue (but all are spoken for and have homes waiting for them). We had so much fun cuddling them! If you are ever looking for a new dog, Mikey's is a great organization! They take in many of the deeply sick and wounded dogs throughout our community and fix them up to get them ready for new loving homes!
