July recap!
Spent a long weekend at Garwood Arena for the Ohio Amateur Quarter Horse Association’s The “not so” Little Buckeye. Then packed up and headed to Columbus, did a little switcharoo with a couple horses and spent a week at the Ohio State fair.
Ashlyne Ivy and Good With Mayo had a great weekend with big strides in growing their connection in the show pen, clean patterns, a placing in the L2 14-18 showmanship and a solid pattern got them back in for the rail work in a tough L2 14-18 horsemanship class.
Lucca Wingfield and Hes a Kissin Machine, had a long week. Placing in the rookie pleasure at the buckeye, making back to the championship in the showmanship(top 10 placing) at the state fair, placing in the horsemanship, and plenty of ups and downs through the more than a week of showing they worked through each others nerves and ended with a top 10 in the championship class in the HUS at the state fair at the end of the week.
Chloe Pleasant and Just My Charm finished up Chloe’s 4H showing career. A bobble in the showmanship kept her from a placing but placing in a tough ranch riding class, she finished the week with a smile Thank you Kendra Wolf for letting us borrow Ish!
Noah Reed and Slipped around got to experience their first state fair together Elsie, a state fair veteran, helped Noah navigate his first time. They placed 10th in their western pleasure class, and had solid patterns in the showmanship and horsemanship.
Lila Manke and A Shy Bonanza, also had their first state fair as a team, Lila has been to state with her pony for the driving classes before, but decided to bring drake this year, a placing with a beautiful western showmanship pattern, a little tough luck kept her from a English showmanship placing, and a call back to the pleasure final.
Adelia Grant and Andy came off of a successful week of showing at their county fair, and came to the state fair with placing in the ranch pleasure with a top 10 championship placing also, a HUS placing.
It takes a village for anyone, so I was happy to lend a hand to Samantha Peoples be able to her navigate top placings in all her classes (trail, horsemanship, equitation, and HUS), three championship classes, with beautiful placings including a reserve champion in HUS!
All around it was a wonderful week and a half, I am so thankful to be able to do what I love with a great group of people, thank you to my parents for bringing the camper and golf cart, and getting it all set up for me, mom for making food, thank you Jeanie Pleasant Wier for the food especially the meatballs!! thank you Ashley Edmunds for helping with getting horses where they need to be and holding down the fort at home. Thank you to my husband for supporting me, even if that means we don’t see each other for days and weeks at a time because both of our schedules can be less than ideal.
THANK YOU to my wonderful clients, you guys are my people, you are a wonderful barn family, the atmosphere that comes with everyone being together is like no other
