We were privileged to exhibit the grand champion Hampshire gilt at the NSR Winter Type Conference in Perry Georgia.
She is out of the very first litter sired by Walnut at Lean Value Sires. Her mother is the best maternal sow on the farm. She has weaned 23 pigs in two litters and also was a foster mom to 9 crossbreds.
This gilt sells today in the National Swine Registry sale.

We also exhibited her littermate boar who was second in his class. He will also sell today in the sale

In what words and where do I begin in describing the “Tucker Brothers???”
To sum it up…the one word comes to mind for both of them…”SELFLESS!!!”
Us “Yankees” and the rest of the world should take note and apply the…Selfless Nature…That these brothers possess.
They say that there is nothing greater than “Southern Hospitality” but these two take it to the next level.
I got the chance to meet Harry & Newt at our first LVS southern jackpot…A new thing that we did in the Southeast for a few years along with a LVS Southeast Customer Appreciation sale. Both Harry & Newt helped us immensely…From grunt labor to the technical sale & show set up…they were there.

Harry is one dedicated individual…not only to his FFA chapter, that he educates…but to every youth that he has met!!!
Harry can be found at many shows helping his kids…working the back drop with Steve Mapes and always and I mean always… the one person that is around when you need them the most.
He and his wife Christine, have dedicated themselves to be the difference in the youth that they work with daily!!!

Newt is the jack of all trades…whether it is a glitch in the sound system, spread sheets that have no end, pigs that won’t eat, or just an open ear that you can talk too…Newt is your guy!!!
Newt is also a dedicated “Show Dad” always on the hunt for the best project that he can find!!!
He and his wife Cheryl spend countless hours helping their children and other youth…prepare and hone for every show!!!

The amount of time that Harry & Newt spend dedicated to the youth of the southeast…while either on the road, in the Ben Hill Ag Building, and everywhere else in between is “Unfathomable!!!”

I have a lot of fond memories with …”The Boys From The South” and I am sure that I will make many more!!!

The Gebhardt family is quite special to us here at LVS…If you have ever attended one of our annual AI Workshops here in Kenton, Oh…You have had the chance to overwhelm your taste-buds, with some of the best fry pies known to man!!
The Gebhardt’s have what I call a “Diversified Farm Model”… that most new comers to our industry need to take notes from.
We all love the success in the showring don’t get me wrong…But it’s what we do outside of it…that helps make it that much sweeter!!
The Gebhardt family and Runway Farm diversifies themselves with showpig sales, beef & pork meat sales, breeding stock sales, and the delectable sweet shop that they run.
Besides both of them having full time jobs…They hit every opportunity at farmers markets, community events and swine shows that they can… They let no grass grow under their feet…And they do it all with such compassion and dedication that is hard to dispute or find.
One of my best memories with the Gebhardt family has been the progress that they have made in their showpig herd…with taking big wins in Tyler County, Jefferson County and Wetzel County.
They take every opportunity at the shows, open houses, farmers markets, community events and livestock sales to network and grow…With open ears and an open hearts…they cease these opportunities as a chance to better not only themselves, but their clients as well.

I have had the privilege to get to know Katelyn and her family (Jessica, Travis, Justin) over the last 4 years...As breeders Katelyn and her family breed and raise top quality Durocs, Yorkshires, Polands, and Crosses...And have been know to show Chesters and Herefords as well.
Katelyn's work-ethic and ability to persistently strive for making show swine better, is something that is very hard to find...Her and her families belief in not being "Barn Blind" as I would call it...Shows in the development and progress that they bring out each show season.
Katelyn's humbling nature is very awesome too...There is not an ill word said when the show is over and she knows no stranger in the barn ...She is one of the first ones willing to lend a helping hand...Whether it be helping Diane Keith at the backdrop picturing, setting up the show and sale ring at the state fair, or helping others when no one else will...Katelyn is there!!!
As an exhibitor Katelyn strives on every opportunity to do better and be better...Driving her to many accolades in the showmanship divisions...And as a believer in making every opportunity count she stays close to ringside to learn and grow!!!
One of the biggest things that I have witnessed, in my short time of knowing Katelyn and the Dutton family...Is their ability to bring out not only best from themselves...but the best out of others...If we could all take a lesson from Katelyn and her family...It would be to be "Bigger Than Yourself" and never let any moment pass that could be for the "Betterment Of You And Others!!!"
