Making some shirts. I will be giving these to those who supported Rambo. We appreciate all of the love and support he has recieved. But I'd like some input on what color tshirts to order. Also what sizes.

Edit: We are planning to make small changes to this. Maybe font color/fill and the white background of Rambo (the dog part). So shirt will be similar. -Tricia

Update on Rambo: Some of the info is a repeat. Updates will be less frequent unless there is a change.

Rambo is doing very well right now. He's up to 76lbs (he was around 60lbs when he came home). He tries to be very active during the day and spends alot of time in a crate unless he's being watched as he is still on activity restriction (bc of his heart function not the surgery itself) and because he chewed up some shoes (boredome is driving him nuts). Trazadone doesn't seem to work at all anymore. He is still on Clavamox 2x a day and Vetmedin 2x a day. He still has some fluid in his chest and our vet will continue to do routine xrays about once a month to check for changes. Sooner if we think he needs it or for my piece of mind. He goes back to VT at the end of February to have another echocardiogram to see if his heart function is back to normal (he was diagnosed with DCM) and see if he can come off that medication. They think the change is from the inflammation from the infection and/or the surgery. He had a clear echo a little over a year ago.

We are told that he will most likely be on the antibiotics for several more months to a year. The bacterial infection, Actinomyces, typically takes a very long course of antibiotics to treat. He may need more thoracentesis (pulling fluid out with a needle/syringe) procedures if the fluid gets worse and/or affects his breathing.

I've also inquired about hyperbaric chamber treatments. I haven't heard if the vet thinks they would be beneficial or not yet.

Hunting Retriever Champion Rapid Rydin Riley will be going on a date in the next week or two. If all goes well mid March, there will be yellow to red little rileys arriving. Meanwhile she's out there putting in work!

Update on Rambo:

Rambo has a follow up Friday at our regular vet for xrays. He still has a pleural effusion. The xrays aid in monitoring that. He will continue on antibiotics for the unforeseeable future (month-yr). It just depends on the fluid. He could need more "taps" to pull fluid off in the future. He will have another echocardiogram in a couple months and it was recommended that he see an internal medicine doctor as well to monitor the effectiveness of antibiotics. We knew he had a long road ahead but I guess we didn't realize just how long it was going to be. Keep praying for him as he still isn't out of the woods.... even though he looks healthier on the outside.
