🌊🌊🌊Providing a water source in your tarantula’s enclosure is essential for their hydration and overall health. While they can obtain some moisture from food, a shallow water dish serves as a vital safety net, especially before or after a molt when hydration is critical. Tarantulas physically drink from the dish, which helps regulate their moisture levels, particularly in dry conditions. Humidity and damp substrate can slow dehydration but cannot replace the necessity of a clean water source.

All invertebrates, including tarantulas, scorpions, and centipedes, lose water over time and risk dehydration without access to water. This is especially important for tarantulas newly acquired or shipped, as they need water to maintain proper movement by pumping fluid through their legs. Always ensure the water provided is clean—if it’s not suitable for you to drink, it’s not suitable for your tarantula.
