Friday, February 14th from 11-2 at Byrdhouse Books

Rescued bunnies, a bunny “kissing booth,” hot chocolate and treats from Vevi’s Designs, permanent jewelry by Mae & Grace, couples tarot readings, a special story time reading at 11 am, and craft time for the kiddos at 12 pm.

Free, floating event with items available for purchase. Craft time is free and available while supplies last.

🐰 Max’s Surgery Update! ❤️‍🩹
Thank you all for checking in on Max! He was able to go home with his foster mom late last night (after a loooong delay from a highway closure). He had a little banana and oats, took his meds, and got cozy with a heating pad to warm up.

This morning, Max is moving around, taking his antibiotics and pain meds, and starting nibble food - we’re hoping to see his appetite come back more today 🙏🏼

The vet did an amazing job, even managing to remove a tricky tooth that likely won’t grow back—great news for Max’s future!

We’re so grateful for your support to make Max’s rescue possible. Max is a wonderful rabbit and will make an incredible pet. Thank you for helping us give him this second chance! 💕

🙏🏼❗️MAX UPDATE❗️He is out of surgery and doing well! We are SO RELIEVED. Thank you so much to Dr. Powers and Max’s amazing fosters
Dr. Powers was able to remove all of the incisor teeth and neuter Mr. Max. We had some concerns about decay in his molar teeth, but thankfully she was able to leave them so he can eat more easily. She is also estimating he may be closer to 5 or 6 years old. We’ll never know for sure how old he is or how he was neglected for so long. But we known he will never have to worry again.
Please help us with Max’s vet bills. Share a little kindness and end this year with good vibes 🥰 We still have the $1,000 match, so every dollar you donate is doubled! Just $5 turns into $10. If 100 people donate just $5 we will meet the goal for Max!

Christmas for the City 2024 was such a sweet time. We joined with so many amazing nonprofits in our area to provide FREE fun activities and Christmas cheer for our community.
We brought our new rescue, Brownie 🐰 (available for adoption!) and made adorable wooden ornaments colored with food safe markers. Visitors had the option of take the ornaments home - which so many were so grateful for - or to hang them on our trees to be an edible treat for the bunnies ❣️🎄
We love being a part of the community and hope to make this an annual tradition of sharing love and kindness. Want to join us next year? 🥰

Ella 🐇 and 🐰Max are extraordinary rabbits from WNC that found their way to us in a unique way.
⛰️Through our help with relief efforts in WNC and the Asheville area, we met a small but mighty group of rabbit rescue warriors. The only official rescue in the area had to close after the hurricane devastation, leaving the area even more vulnerable for small animals. Both Ella and Max were at a rural county shelter that was not set up for rabbits and did not have a foster program for rabbits.
🐇 Ella was adopted out to a family without rabbit experience and they were overwhelmed by her needs. She is a BIG 14 lb girl and needs LOTS of space to stretch her legs.
🐰 Max was surrendered to the shelter with extremely overgrown teeth and seen by a vet not experienced with rabbits to trim them. He is doing great now, but will need his teeth monitored and possibly will require regular trims.
💪🏼Our new rabbit warrior friends learned about the rabbits and posted asking for help to get them out of the shelter. We saw the pictures and knew we had to help somehow before the rabbits landed in the wrong hands. We quickly made a plan to register as a rescue partner with the shelter, pull the rabbits, and place them in foster with one of the rabbit warrior ladies.
