I’m often asked, “What should I do with my dog when it’s too cold outside?”

Winter is a great time to fine tune obedience, learn a few new tricks, improve public manners in a pet friendly store. Additionally, you can incorporate multiple shorter outdoor sessions throughout the day to keep your dog active while minimizing the risk of cold-related injuries.

It’s important to remember that even in colder months, your dog’s physical and mental needs remain the same. With a little creativity, you can ensure they stay engaged and fulfilled. Below is a list of ideas to inspire you, but feel free to build on it to suit your dog’s unique interests and needs:

- Learn a New Trick: Teach your dog something fresh to challenge their mind.
- Refine Obedience: Work on perfecting know skills.
- Practice Public Manners: Visit pet-friendly stores to practice good behavior in public settings.
- Nose Work Games: Hide toys or treats around your house—or even in the snow—for a fun, scent-focused activity.
