Marley Update ❤️

Please Help Us With Her Surgery Expenses

Marley is still hospitalized in Cairo and has begun physical therapy. The team is working carefully on getting her up and walking again. She cannot walk on her own yet and needs assistance, but she has only recently had her surgery, and this is expected at this stage of recovery.

Right now, what we urgently need help with are Marley’s medical expenses. We have an initial hospital bill of $2,200 that must be paid before she can undergo her second surgery for her other hip. So far, we have only received $197, and the stress of trying to cover this is immense. I am not sure why she did not get much help because we think she is so worthy and beautiful.

Marley has suffered more than any dog ever should. She lived through losing her mother, being shot, and then being run over. None of this was her fault, and she does not deserve to lose her chance at healing now.

Please consider helping Marley if you’re able, or sharing her story so others can help. Every bit truly matters.

Thank you for standing with Marley 🤍

Wonderful news to share: we were able to secure the full funds needed for the new curtains at ESDAR "The Egyptian Society For Defending Animal Rights" in Cairo Egypt. A heartfelt thank you to one generous donor who covered the bulk of the cost and made this possible.

Yesterday, Salwa from ESDAR received the funds and was able to order the material. We are now waiting for the curtains to be made and delivered to the shelter. We cannot wait to show you them installed and are so grateful for this gift of warmth and protection for the horses and donkeys who need it most during the cold winter months.

As we welcome the New Year, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks and warm New Year wishes from our rescue partner, in the Philippines.

This past year has been truly meaningful. Together, we have helped save countless lives, provided care and second chances to animals in need, supported community outreach projects, and responded to disaster relief efforts when help was needed most. None of this would have been possible without the shared dedication, compassion, and teamwork that defines our partnership.

We are deeply grateful for everyone who has stood with us, supported our mission, and believed in the work we do together. Your support has made a real and lasting impact on both animals and communities.

Here’s to another amazing year ahead. We look forward to continuing this journey together in 2026, creating even more positive change and saving more lives along the way.

Thank you, and Happy New Year from all of us at Paraiso ni Fur Kimay.

Podcast Summary: The Rescue Dog Pod – Featuring Emmy Award Nominated Neil Laird

In this episode of The Rescue Dog Pod, host Helen Summerfield Brown, President of Stray Dog Support, welcomes Emmy-nominated producer and author Neil Laird for an in-depth conversation about storytelling, compassion, and rescue. The episode celebrates the power of second chances—both for animals and for the stories that bring their journeys to light.

Neil shares highlights from his extensive career creating documentaries for major networks such as National Geographic, Discovery, the BBC, PBS, and the History Channel, reflecting on what first inspired him to pursue documentary filmmaking and how working in more than 70 countries shaped him personally and professionally. He discusses balancing factual accuracy with creative storytelling and how industry recognition influenced his path.

A significant focus of the episode is Neil’s work in animal welfare media, including Dogtown, which documented the rehabilitation of abused and neglected dogs, and Puppy Bowl, which celebrates rescue dogs finding new homes. He talks about the emotional challenges and rewards of filming rescue stories, the role entertainment plays in shaping public attitudes toward animal welfare, and the importance of spotlighting rescue organizations and movements.

The conversation also explores Neil’s transition into fiction writing with his Prime Time Travelers novel series. He explains how his real-life experiences in television production inspired the humor, chaos, and historical adventures in his books, and shares insights into blending history, fantasy, and q***r storytelling. Neil offers a preview of upcoming projects in the series, including Prime Time Troy.

The episode concludes with personal reflections on identity, creative purpose, and the future of storytelling across podcasts, streaming platforms, and independent publishing. Neil leaves listeners with advice for aspiring filmmakers and authors who want to create meaningful work.

Instead of retelling Marley’s story in the usual way, we want to share it through the words and experience of the person who rescued her:

You asked me about Marley, and I want to share what I lived with her.

Marley’s life has been heartbreaking from the very beginning. I used to care for her mother, a gentle, kind soul. She gave birth to Marley and eight other puppies on an abandoned piece of land in Alexandria, Egypt. I went there every day to feed them while their mother stood guard, protecting her babies.

One morning, I received a call that shattered me. At dawn, the dogs had been attacked. I ran through the streets in disbelief and shock. That day broke something inside me. This was about five years ago. The land belonged to Bank Misr and was under construction, and all the dogs were removed. I was powerless. I couldn’t save anyone—except Marley.

Marley stayed behind and survived on the streets. Some people in the area cared for her, and for a while, she seemed okay. Over the years, she became pregnant more than once, and each time, tragedy followed. Her puppies disappeared one by one. She used to wait for me at a distance, calling me over to show me what was happening. In the end, only one puppy survived. I later had Marley spayed and sterilized other dogs in the area, hoping to stop the cycle.

Then, one cold day, with no shelter to protect her, Marley lay down to sleep on a nearby street. A cruel act changed everything. I was called and told she was badly injured. I ran to her without even waiting for a car and rushed her to a clinic, praying it wouldn’t be as bad as it sounded.

But it was worse than I could have imagined.

Marley had suffered multiple bone dislocations in both elbows, a severe femoral dislocation, and open wounds. I reached out to you, and you became a lifeline—for Marley and for me. Every door felt closed, but because of your support, Marley was transported to Cairo and admitted to one of the best clinics in Egypt.

The veterinarians performed open reduction surgery to repair her elbow dislocations and a femoral head osteotomy on her right leg. She is now stable and recovering under medical care.

If Marley had died like her mother, I don’t think I could have survived that pain. Because of you, she is still here.

Marley remains hospitalized in Cairo, Egypt, and while the hardest part is over, we urgently need help covering her surgery costs and ongoing medical boarding during her recovery. Please consider supporting Marley if you can, or sharing her story so others can help.

From the bottom of my heart—thank you for giving Marley a chance at life.

Thank you Dadeg Kamel

We were so touched to receive a sweet message and New Year’s wishes from one of our partner shelters Refugio Kerem A. C. in San Cristóbal, Mexico.

Refugio Kerem is run by the incredibly dedicated animal advocate Margarita, who helps so many animals in her community with compassion, determination, and heart. Like so many small shelters, they operate with very limited support, yet they care for a large number of animals—many with special needs and disabilities—who might otherwise have nowhere to go.

We encourage everyone to follow Refugio Kerem’s work and support their mission if you’re able. We are deeply grateful to Margarita for her unwavering commitment and dedication to the animals she serves.

We look forward to a great 2026 and continuing our partnership to help animals in need.

When Kindness Changes Everything 🐾❤️

Look at how handsome our beautiful Cogan is. He has come so far and is doing incredibly well.

Cogan’s story began with heartbreak. He was attacked simply because of how he looked, due to a severe deformity in his back leg. When we rescued him, his leg was completely bent backward—likely the result of being hit by a car when he was younger and then healing improperly. This video of him trying to walk, only to be kicked by a young boy on the streets of Egypt, is something that will always stay with us.

Cogan eventually had his damaged leg removed, and from that moment on, everything changed. No longer held back by pain and deformity, he began to thrive. Today, Cogan lives as a tripod dog and has learned to manage beautifully, proving just how resilient and strong he truly is.

Cogan is currently in boarding and we are asking for help with the veterinary bills accumulated during his hospitalization, as well as his ongoing boarding costs. He has already endured so much in his young life.

When kindness is chosen over cruelty, the world becomes a brighter place. Because of compassion, dogs like Cogan will never have to feel unloved or unsafe again.

Special thanks to the vets, boarding & Dadeg Kamel

⭐️Please note that this video of the boy kicking Cogan was sent to rescuers by a local person to see who could help. If we were there we would have intervened.

Even though today is Monday, our Wednesday wanted to say good morning.

Wednesday is a survivor of a hit-and-run car accident that left her with a badly damaged leg, which ultimately had to be amputated. Despite everything she has been through, she is absolutely stunning and has come so far from the broken dog who was left behind after being run over.

Her resilience is inspiring, and she continues to show nothing but strength and grace. Wednesday is now looking for a monthly sponsor, and even better, a forever home with an adopter in the UK or Europe. She truly deserves a life filled with love, safety, and kindness—so much more than what she endured in the past.

Thank you to in Bitola Macedonia for taking care of Wednesday and for giving her the help, compassion, and second chance she so deeply deserved.

Wonderful News!

We have wonderful news to share: all of Moonlight’s remaining puppies have survived parvo. It was an incredibly stressful and emotional time, but thanks to tireless care and constant attention, they pulled through.

The foster home went above and beyond while the puppies were sick. The long days, sleepless nights, and unwavering dedication made all the difference, and I am truly grateful for everything they did to give these puppies a fighting chance.

Today, all of the puppies were revaccinated, and we are very happy to report that they are doing well. While we are still mourning the loss of Eclipse, there is real relief and gratitude in knowing that the remaining puppies survived. We like to believe Moonlight was sending her love and strength to them every step of the way.

Thank you to everyone who supported, checked in, donated, and sent positive thoughts during this difficult time. It truly meant more than we can express. We would be so grateful for any help toward the $180 needed to cover their vaccines. In addition, we are looking for 8 people to help us with their boarding costs of $165 per puppy ($1300) as they continue their recovery and wait for the next chapter.

And really… aren’t they the cutest puppies?

A Peaceful Sunday Wish from KEB 🐾

It’s Sunday, and KEB is wishing everyone a calm and relaxing day.

KEB’s journey hasn’t been easy. He was rescued after being found abandoned on the streets, following years of neglect and abuse. Since coming into our care, he has made incredible progress and is doing so much better. Watching him heal and regain his trust has been truly rewarding.

KEB is around 6 years old and would thrive in a quiet, loving home where he can enjoy a peaceful routine. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and in good health for his age. While KEB is currently in Egypt, we can coordinate his transport—so all you need to do is apply, and we will take care of the rest.

We are urgently hoping to find KEB the forever home he deserves. In the meantime, we are also looking for a sponsor to help cover this month’s boarding and food costs. We are seeking $200 to support his care and keep him safe and comfortable.

Can anyone help KEB by sponsoring his expenses or by offering him a loving home? Your support can truly change his life.

Our Mission

Stray Dog Support is a non-profit 501(c)3 dedicated to help saving and improving the lives of defenseless and vulnerable street dogs around the world. We focus on providing financial support to those living local to the dogs who are dedicated to helping these animals, typically using their own very limited resources. We work to provide financial support to these local rescuers who often go without food and basic needs in order to help these at-risk dogs. Stray Dog relies on donations and sponsorship to not only provide food and medicine for the dogs, but also to give them love, confidence and dignity.

Please help us in our mission – the street dogs of the world are counting on us! Stray Dog has no paid employees and no overhead costs so you can be assured 100% of your donation goes to improving the circumstances of street dogs around the world.
