It’s getting batty up in here, working on removing Bats at several homes here in the lower Keys. It’s almost bat maternity season, which starts April 15 and runs all the way until the end of August. If you have bats up in your attic, you don’t have much time left to remove them. At this point it’s probably best just to wait until after maternity season, being that bats are so important to our environment and our fragile ecosystem. We had termites swarming really bad at our house tonight and I really wished I had some bats. 🦇🦇🦇

Please help these awesome people do what they do for our local wildlife. If you can donate even a small amount, it would help with them tremendously.

Rocket was picked up Tuesday night, severely disoriented, dehydrated, and underweight. Coming in at 605g, he should be double that. 48 hours later we up 100g and looking more alert. He’ll need formula until his digestive system gets better.

Happy national BANDIT Day!!!!

It's National Raccoon Day! 🦝

Here are 5 facts you may not know about Raccoons:
1. Raccoons have thousands of nerve endings in their front paws and toes. Their paws are very nimble which helps them probe under rocks and into trash cans.
2. Raccoon babies are called "kits."
3. Raccoons often dunk their food in water before eating it, which enhances their sense of touch.
4. The black fur around a raccoon’s eyes helps them see better at night.
5. Raccoons are very intelligent and highly inquisitive, ranking just below monkeys on the mammal IQ scale.

Come see our Raccoon ambassadors Friendly & Timmy at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary soon!

I wanted to share some info because it seems to happen often. A very kind person brought a box turtle to the marathon wildlife center and put it in the after hours box. The people at the wildlife center released it on their property. The only issue with that is that they are very territorial and never really leave their home range their entire lives. So what should you do if you see a box turtle, just leave it alone, if it’s trying to cross the street help it, and put it in the direction it was going, that is the best thing to do with a Florida Box Turtle they’re not escaped pets they are native wildlife.

Here is removal #4 at Islander Village on Stock Island, this was the mother-hive for sure, it was about four and a half feet long and about a foot wide. These bees were honey making machines, with a total of forty pounds of honey harvested.
