The Border Terrier is not only the oldest terriers in the UK , but one of the most popular breeds in the UK as well! These cute little guys, once breed for fox hunting, have now become one a perfect family dog and have worked their way into the hearts of many celebrities such as Sir Andy Murray, David Walliams, Dennis Quaid, Diane Keaton, Daniel Craig, James Herriot and Kate Lawler.
They are compact, hypoallergenic, low shedding, energetic and absolutely adorable

Let's talk about the canine respiratory virus. Symptoms are coughing, sneezing, eye/nose discharge, difficulty breathing, and lethargy. If your dog has any of these symptoms, please see the Vet immediately. We will also evaluate all dogs, and send them home if we are concerned about their health. We are doing extra sanitizing, keeping low contact with other dogs, and minimizing the time your dog is at the salon.
It's important to note this virus has been here since last September, so canceling your appointment is not necessary unless your dog is unwell . We do ask that pets not be left all day, but picked up immediately after their finished.

The Scottish Deerhound may have existed before Scottish people themselves.
Some version of the breed can be traced all the way back to the third century, but historians can definitively identify the breed as Deerhounds in the 16th and 17th centuries

The Plott Hound is one of the few Coonhound breeds to originate in the United States without any English Foxhound ancestry. In 1750, Johannes “George” Plott arrived in America with five Hanoverian Hounds. For several generations, he and his descendants bred those dogs in the mountains of North Carolina. This Brindle Hound became the North Carolina state dog in 1989

We hope you like vikings because today we bring you the viking dog!

Swedish Vallhund breed is at least 1,000 years old, going all the way back to the age of the Vikings. At that time, the breed was known as “Vikingarnas Hund,”or the Viking Dog.
This little herding dog is an original species meaning it did not come from another breed of dog! One unique characteristic of SVs is that many of them are naturally born without tails, others are born with stub tails or full-length tails.

Fun Dog Fact Friday 🐾

The Curly Coated Retriever was the first retrieving breeds ever used in England!

The Curly may look like a Labrador Retriever crossed with a Poodle, but he is a registered breed. In fact, the Curly is one of the oldest retriever breeds, likely being the first breed used for serious retrieving work in England. He was originally developed in England, and being a long-time favorite of English gamekeepers, he was popular on the large estates. British artwork from 300 years ago features this distinctive dog, and written accounts go back to 1803.

The Welsh terrier
During John F. Kennedy’s presidency, the family had a Welshie named Charlie. Jaqueline Kennedy gave Charlie to her husband during the presidential campaign and Charlie bonded so closely to JFK that Mrs. Kennedy called him “Jack’s dog.” Charlie sometimes swam laps with the president and took long walks with the First Couple at night, trailed discreetly by the Secret Service.

The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is not a very popular breed, because it's best adapted for hunting and outdoor activities, not quiet home life. But perhaps the most famous owner of a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon was Grace Kelly's husband, Prince Rainer III of Monaco. Rainer's dog, Odin, followed the casket in the funeral procession for his late owner.

The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever 🦆

With webbed feet and double coat, these dogs were made for the water and they love it! They actually get their name "toller" because their job is to toll, or entice, ducks toward the shore with their playful personalities and flowing tails. Once the docks are lured into gun range, the dogs are sent out to retrieve the birds.

They are actually one of two breeds in the whole world bred to do this act of duck trickery
