Cheek to cheek. Towards the end of this video you'll see it. In play this body position between two dogs will result in another play bout. In dog aggressive dogs it may very well become the start of a fight. I call this the tango position.
During play you can observe the same types of behaviors you would see if the situation were serious. In this game of keep away you see whale eye, resource guarding, growling and running away. All fun and non-scary during a fun game.

Hunter's favorite cartoon is on! While this is cute behavior - and harmless - never allow a dog to bark and lunge at the television. Change the channel or sh*t it off to prevent reactive behaviors or potential obsessive behaviors.
The rules aren't as important as the game. It's okay if your dog doesn't want to bring the ball back. Perhaps chasing is more fun. The important thing is that the two of you enjoy the game!
