Do you know how to tell if your pet is dehydrated? Follow these helpful tips!

1. Test skin elasticity: Gently pinch the skin at the back of your pet's neck or between the shoulder blades, lift the skin and then release. In a well hydrated pet, the skin should snap back to it's original position. If the skin takes longer or stays in a "tented position", it may indicate dehydration.
2. Gum check: Carefully lift your pet's lip to check their gums. The gums should be pink, moist and slippery to the touch. If the gums are dry, sticky, pale or tacky, this could indicate dehydration.

Make sure your pet has access to clean water at all times! Especially in the hot summer months. 🌺

The purpose of microchips used for pets is to provide a form of permanent identification. These microchip implants are called radio frequency identification (RFID) tags. They are tiny, about the size of a large grain of rice, and are passive, which means that they passively store a unique identification number and do not actively transmit any information.

Is your furry best friend in need of a good scrub! 🐾🚿 Follow these helpful tips:

1.) Prep Your Tub
Place a non-slip mat in the bottom of the tub or sink for them to stand on and invest in a hair trap for the drain.
2.) Brush Out Your Dog’s Coat Before You Start the Bath
Doing so removes dead fur, which saves you time and shampoo and keeps fur out of your drain. It also helps the shampoo better pe*****te their coat and reach the skin.
3.) Only Use Shampoo and Conditioners Specially Formulated for Dogs
Human hair products can strip a dog’s coat of its natural oils or cause an allergic reaction. Ask your veterinarian for their recommendation on a dog-safe shampoo.
4.) Keep the Inside of Their Ears Dry
Many ear infections in dogs begin when water gets deep inside of a dog’s ear when swimming or during a bath. Prevent an ear infection by putting cotton balls in your dog’s ear during a bath (don’t forget to take them out after), and don’t spray or dump water in or near their ears. It can also help to rinse their ears out with an ear cleaner (specifically for dogs) after bathing or swimming.
5.) Rinse Well
Rinse your dog’s coat thoroughly to prevent shampoo residue and build-up on their skin.
6.) Blow-Dry Your Dog's Coat If Possible
Dogs can develop hot spots, itch, or inflammation due to trapped moisture. Thoroughly blow drying not only helps prevent these from developing, but it also helps prevent your dog’s fur from matting as it dries.
7.) Brush Too, if You're Towel Drying
If you are letting your dog air dry, towel dry as much as you can and brush out their coat every few minutes while they are drying to prevent matting.

Step-by-Step Guide for Ear Cleaning:
1. Sit on the floor and have your dog sit in front of you with his rear end positioned between your legs. If you have a large breed dog, position him so he is sitting with his rear end in the corner of a room, with his one side against the wall. Stand on his other side.
2. Grasp one ear and hold the ear flap (pinna) up vertically to expose straighten out the ear canal.
3. Squeeze some ear cleaning solution into your dog’s ear. Use enough cleaner to completely fill the ear canal. It is fine if some of the cleaner spills out of the ear canal. Do not put the tip of the bottle into the ear.
4. Continue to hold the ear flap up vertically with one hand and gently massage the base of the ear below the ear opening for about 30 seconds.
5. While still holding up the ear flap , wipe away debris from the inner part of the ear flap and the upper ear canal using a cotton ball or gauze.
6. Allow your dog to shake his head. This allows the remaining ear cleaning solution and debris from the ear canal to move out of the canal to the outer opening of the ear.
7. Remove any debris and remaining cleaning solution from the ear canal with a cotton ball or gauze – only go into the ear canal as far as your finger will reach.
8. Praise your dog and provide treats.
9. Repeat the same process with the other ear.
