Patrick’s Parade and Celebration kicks off on Sunday March 20th at 1 pm. (MP 11.5) north to Driftwood St. on Virginia Dare Trail (Beach Rd.). Those wanting to enter a band, float, group/organization or other entity in the Parade need to fill out a parade application. Parade applications can be downloaded from www.kellysobxcatering.com. Parade participants should decorate their float/entry based on
this year’s theme – “An Irish Celebration”. “Don your kilt, raise your pint and wear your green and white,” says Kelly’s owner Mike Kelly. Entrants will be judged at a new Reviewing Stand location on the west side of the Virginia Dare Trail - MP 10.6 between Baltic St. and Admiral St. Awards will be given to Best Overall (use of Parade theme), Best Float, Best Band/Music, & Best Unit at the Parade After-Party in the tent behind Kelly’s Restaurant. The band, The Crowd will be providing entertainment and as always, free hot dogs for all until they’re gone! What began as a way to break up the winter doldrums and to invigorate the community in preparation for the summer season, the parade has grown to include over one-hundred entrants and is watched by over eight thousand attendees thus making it the largest St. Patrick’s Parade in North Carolina! Kelly’s is seeking volunteers to assist along the parade route to help keep the units moving and offer other directions.
