Dr. Hughling enjoyed career day at Timber Ridge Elementary on Thursday. Bella, the French bulldog, and Spot, the Bally python, were the hit. We talked to grades kindergarten-third grade! It was fun, but these kids are ready for the summer!!☀️☀️🕶️🕶️

Killeen Veterinary Clinic's Drs. Buckley and Hughling were recognized at the Killeen Career Center FFA banquet with honorary memberships. Our clinic has long partnered with the Career Center's Certified Veterinary Assistant program, contributing to its current success. We also support FFA students by buying their livestock at the Bell County Youth Fair and Killeen Junior Livestock Show. We are proud to give back to the community and educate students annually. Congratulations to the newly announced officers and KCC FFA Ambassadors.

We were proud to host Sierra Carson from the Killeen Early College High School in the Killeen Independent School District for a shadow day in our veterinary hospital. She will graduate in a few weeks and attend Prairie View A&M University with plans to become a veterinarian. She observed surgery and experienced the operation of a busy, full service animal hospital. We wish Sierra good luck in the future and look forward to welcoming Dr. Carson back to KVC in a few years.

Hello! We hope everyone is staying nice and warm with all this cold weather. We are open today, but we will be closing early because the pipes are frozen and we have no water. We are bringing water in to use this morning. Unfortunately it is difficult to run a hospital with no water.

Please call or come in this morning if you need us. We are happy to help and thank you for understanding.

HEY, HEY!! ATTENTION:
There's a new medication for dogs with osteoarthritis. It is a once monthly injection called Librela. This new medication is a monoclonal antibody that binds nerve growth factor (NGF) and prevents the pain signal from reaching the brain. This drug is safe for pets with liver, kidney, or heart disease, pets with allergies, and those concurrently on anti-inflammatories or other pain medications. I would like to share some pictures and videos. (See subsequent posts.)

(There is a similar product for cats called Solensia. Unfortunately cats are shy so I don't have any pics or videos.)

We have treated a handful of dogs and cats already and we have had success and these pets are feeling better.

Cookie is looking for a forever family. She is up to date with shots, and has an appointment 11/15/23 to be spayed. Current foster family will still take care of that appointment. She is 3 yrs old and loves children any age, and Loves family.

Dr. Buckley and Dr Hughling were awarded the Outstanding FFA Chapter Advocate Award at the annual Agricultural Teachers Association of Texas conference in Dallas this past week. Dr. Hughling was able to receive the award on behalf of them both. This is an award in recognition of their support in the agriculture and technical field. They were nominated by Stacee Winters with the Killeen Career Center.
