Please begin your cold weather plan for your pets ahead of the frigid temps arriving this tomorrow (Sunday)! 🥶

Please remember...pets in our climate region are not acclimated to severe cold weather! ❄ Bring your pets INDOORS, or be sure to provide a well insulated, draft proof, weather proof dog house or enclosure, with plenty of blankets* (or preferably hay/straw) and a heater, if possible. Igloo dog houses on their own provide very little protection from the weather elements. Please take care of your pets...they are counting on you! 🐶🐱

Visiting hours are Mon, Wed-Fri 10am-3:30pm; Tues 2pm-3:30. You may also call our front desk to schedule a meet-n-greet. Please remember to bring your dog(s) and children along for the visit to help ensure compatibility. Thank you!

Adoption fee is $75, which includes deworming, spaying/neutering, vaccines, microchip, heartworm test, and a free vet check with one of our participating veterinarians. An approved adoption application always applies!

Thank you to Marcia Gunn Daigle for fostering KENDRA and Christina Marie Garriga for fostering HOWIE! We are so appreciative to both of you! ❤️🐾

These 5 sweet adult dogs & puppies have all been saved by our Northern rescue partners and will be transporting to New Hampshire and Connecticut in the next week to 3 weeks. 🚍🐾❤️ We desperately need their kennels to save the lives of dogs still seeking their forever families. 🙏 Please consider opening your home to one of this wonderful dogs. They will be exemplary house guests! 🏡🐾🙂 They are dog & kid friendly; cat tests available upon request. 😸

FOSTER INFORMATION:
•Foster application applies; if you have an app on

•Dogs must be housed indoors with the
exception of being supervised in a fenced
backyard or taken for walks on a leash. 🚶‍♀️

RUFUS is the sweetest boy who was dealt a rough start in life! 😔 Upon intake he was sufffering from flea infestation, patches of missing fur, and red inflamed skin. Despite being itchy, uncomfortable, and in pain, he welcomed his medicated baths, flea treatment, and was happy to be receiving nutritional meals. What a good boy! ❤️

Rufus will convince you that he is a youngster, but his "teefers" and "old age warts" tell us that he is approx 8-10 yrs. He plays like a pup with his doggie and human pals. 🙂🐾 We're hoping he can continue his medicated baths and recuperation from neglect in a loving foster or forever family. 🏡🐾❤️

Ty has rescue commitment with Fetching Hearts Rescue but must first undergo fast-kill heartworm treatment and test negative prior to transport Connecticut. Please consider FOSTERING him - all vet care and food/supplies are provided at no expense to the foster. 👩🏼‍⚕️

If you are interested in ADOPTING Ty, Friends of the Animal Shelter in Hancock County will sponsor his fast-kill heartworm treatment through the Because of Olive Program. ❤️

TY is an awesome boy, and the quintessential family dog! 💙 He is so sweet and gentle despite his generous size. He would be a treasured addition to any family large or small. He loves other friendly, playful dogs, and could easily join a home with existing family pets and children. 🥰

"OLD DOGS TEACH US SILENT SONGS OF LOVE, LOYALTY, AND GRACE!" 💞 Update on SILAS & HUNTER, our two delightful "frosted faces"... Our two most senior residents, Silas & Hunter, have renewed energy, hope, and a sense of excitement now that they are in a loving foster home with our dear friends at Heart’s House❣️ These two 9 yr old "brothers," along with 3 other dogs, were seized in a neglect case, but thanks to the dedication of our kennel techs and vet, as well as the excellent care and love of Foster Mom Brandi, they are on the mend! 🥰 Silas (chocolate Labrador Retreiver mix) is recovering from a double ear infection and flea infestation/fur loss, while Hunter (Black-mouth Cur mix) is completely healed of his ailments. 🙂 We suspect both fellas are heartworm positive, but we are praying for a miracle! 🙏 We will update their status next week, and if positive, we hope to raise the funds via Friends of the Animal Shelter in Hancock County 's Because of Olive Program to provide fast-kill heartworm treatment to give them the healthy, happiest "Golden Years" as possible. Silas & Hunter are available to foster-to-adopt should you want to open your home and heart to one or both dogs. 🏡❤️ They are friendly and compatible with other dogs, but they did not met and cats of children while at the shelter.
