Check out the heartbeat on this 3 gram dart frog!

🐸 Thinking About Pet Dart Frogs? Here’s What to Know!

Dart frogs may be tiny, but they’re some of the most fascinating exotic pets out there. With their vibrant colors and active personalities, they thrive in well-designed bioactive enclosures that mimic the rainforest. While they’re not handleable pets, they’re wonderful to watch and can do very well with proper humidity, temperature, live plants, and a steady diet of small insects.

If you’re considering adding dart frogs to your home, make sure you’re ready for their specialized care — but for the right owner, they’re absolutely magical to keep. 🌿🐸✨

💛 Cheering for Gizmo the Axolotl 💛

Gizmo came to us after not eating for some time, and her X-rays suggested she might have swallowed a pebble — even though she hasn’t had pebbles in her tank for over three years! We started with medical management, but the obstruction wouldn’t budge, so our team moved forward with an exploratory celiotomy to help her.

During surgery, we discovered the cause: a large intestinal mass. The mass was successfully removed and sent to histopathology, where it came back as an adenoma, a type of benign tumor.

Gizmo is recovering like a little warrior, and we are so proud of her resilience. 💛🐾🌊
Please send all your healing thoughts to this brave girl as she continues to heal!

Did you know?

As the weather gets colder, you may notice a few seasonal changes in your hamster! Some hamsters—especially Syrians—can become a bit sleepier, less active, or even slightly cooler to the touch when room temperatures drop. In rare cases, very low temperatures or shortened daylight hours can trigger torpor, a temporary hibernation-like state that can look alarming if you’ve never seen it.

What you can do:
• Keep your hamster’s environment warm (68–75°F) and away from drafts.
• Provide plenty of nesting material so they can burrow comfortably.
• Maintain a consistent day–night light cycle with adequate daylight.
• Monitor appetite, activity, and behavior. If your hamster seems unusually lethargic or difficult to rouse, a warm environment and a quick veterinary check can help rule out medical issues.

Most winter shifts are subtle and harmless—but keeping your little one cozy can prevent stress and keep them healthy all season long! ❄️🐹
