***UPDATE Tuesday December 19th: Route 27 is washed out on both the north and south sides of us, so we continue to be closed. Thank you for your patience. ***
Today is Monday, December 18th and we have had to close the practice due to flooding of local roads. Here is a video of the Ira Mountain Bridge, courtesy of Dr. Benson’s 10-year-old grandson. Safe travels to our staff who are headed home, and to everyone!
PSA: The Private Access road right off of our driveway is NOT open to any off-road vehicles. We just had three riders (snowmobile) come speeding up the driveway and onto that road, which is used for logging and marked as no trespassing. They did not stop or even slow down upon entering the property and onto the private road. We assume they parked at the turnout down by Reed Brook and drove up route 27 to get onto our land. The commotion caused our kennel worker to have a leashed dog nearly drag her off after them and disturbed all of our boarding guests and patients, as well as interrupt Dr. Benson during a difficult surgery. Access to this road means getting pretty close to the parking lot/building. It took several minutes to get everyone calmed down, and the pets in our care deserve better than that! We are very glad we didn’t have any clients in the driveway at the time, to act in such a manner and during business hours on marked property, with no permission or even a stop to look at the layout for safety purposes is extraordinarily inconsiderate as well as dangerous. We sincerely hope this message gets to the offenders and reiterates to others that land owners require basic decency with regards to access permissions. These riders went up about an hour ago and have not returned. We are on edge wondering when they will come back through. There is a sign on a utility pole and on a log laying across the road (which is currently buried in the snow.) We will be placing more signs to hopefully avoid this in the future. Please share and spread the word — this behavior is unacceptable. We are not against enjoying the outdoors in this manner, we just ask for everyone to please be respectful!! 🐾 🐾 🐾
