Good morning everyone! We are sharing this article to help inform the community of a respiratory illness that was been spreading very fast. The symptoms often act much like kennel cough, however there is no cure for this condition. Please take some time out of your day to give this article a read so you can understand more.

More than 200 cases of sick dogs have been reported by the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) since August 2023.

09/07/2023

Good evening all,

We want to let you all know that we are back to operating at full staff.

We wish to thank each and every one of you for your patience and understanding during that hiccup.

08/24/2023

Good afternoon. We would like to give an update.

Although we have five staff members out sick with COVID, we do have healthy, negative-tested staff working very hard to keep operating as best we can.

Should you choose to reschedule your appointment, we understand and ask that you please call to arrange for that.

We realize this in an inconvenience and we are truly sorry.

Please have patience with us as we work through this. We appreciate your patronage.

📣 ANNOUNCEMENT: Hello out there! With the end of 2022 fast approaching, we have decided to hold a New Year’s Eve Rabies Clinic! 💉🐾

Join us from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday, December 31st, and get your pets up to date with their Rabies Vaccinations. You will leave with a Rabies Certificate that can be used to license dogs with your local municipality.

No appointment required • Save time by pre-registering -- click this link to complete our online form: https://forms.gle/ZuvSrDtVdtC18FQy7

Dogs: $20 — proof of previous rabies vaccination required to obtain 3-year formulation

Cats: $20 (3-year formulation), or $28 non-adjuvanted formulation (1-year, but strongly recommended due to increased safety)

Keeping your pets current with their Rabies Vaccinations is not only paramount to preventing infection and saving lives – it’s the law. The State of Maine requires that all dogs & cats obtain rabies vaccinations starting from the age of three months, with boosters at regular intervals in accordance with State Veterinarian recommendations.

Maine State law also dictates that dogs aged 6 months or older are to be licensed in the municipality where they reside. Dogs obtained by new owners must be licensed within 10 days of transfer of ownership. Licenses are renewed annually, with the deadline of January 1st of each year. Late fees start on February 1st. Proof of current Rabies Vaccination is required for licensing.

Don’t worry – we have you covered. See you there !!

CVS HAS SOME EXCITING NEWS!!!

Dr. Shawn Terrell will be joining the practice on Monday, December 19th. Dr. Shawn is a 2009 graduate of Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He has practiced in the mountains of North Carolina for the last 12 years but fell in love with the high peaks and lakes of Maine while thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2022. His expertise and interests in veterinary medicine include soft tissue surgery, dermatology, preventative medicine and client education.

Making compassionate veterinary medicine more accessible in rural settings is Dr. Shawn’s number one priority. He has extensive experience working with dogs, cats, rodents, rabbits, small ruminates, pigs, and backyard poultry.

Dr. Shawn and his old friend Wilson can be found out on the trails and waterways when they aren’t greeting you at the office.

CVS is very excited to welcome Dr. Shawn and Wilson to the Team.
