Christmas cactus, or schlumbergera, are named after the holiday in which they bloom. You may have heard of different types of holiday cacti like Thanksgiving cactus or Easter cactus. They all bloom at different times, which is how they get their names!

Holiday cactus are actually jungle cactus. This means that they grow in tropical areas rather than desert climates. They look wonderful as trailing plants, which is unique for a cactus!
