We have never had flies as bad as this year, everyone is saying the same thing. Poor Teddy was getting his legs hit bad so I have them stylishly wrapped while we wait for his Silver Whinnys from Sox For Horses. Those will cover and help heal at the same time.

when you only get ~ 8 inches of rain per year, this is exciting!

Flash...not so quiet with a hoof trim and boots on. LOL. His feet were hurting before because his toes were distorted and "stretched", causing pain. I trimmed the walls back to live sole, removed infected and dead sole, and backed up his toes to take the pressure off them. A horse's weight should be borne by the sole and frog, not by the walls. this is why shoeing is no good, it causes peripheral loading, which we always want to avoid.

Sending lots of love and doggie kisses to our friends and supporters! Tara (Sibe) lived on a chain for 9 years and was ill and emaciated when she came in Jan. 2010. Rainy was dumped at the local high kill shelter with a litter of 3 week old pups in 2009. She arrived her with such intense fear, she would have spells of catatonia if she saw a leash. JERAS is home to 21 animals- almost all healing from abuse, neglect or abandonment.

Our Story

Journey’s End Ranch Animal Sanctuary

Journeys End Ranch Animal Sanctuary is home to horses, b***os, a sheep, a dog & 5 rabbits which were abused, neglected, unwanted, at the risk of euthanasia or slaughter. Here, they get the care and love they need to heal and live out their lives in peace and comfort. We are located in Arizona's high desert. The sole caretaker is a disabled Veterinary Technician who, despite her health challenges, has been caring for these animals for years.

We practice “natural horse keeping” and provide proper nutrition, clean water, natural hoof trimming, space, companionship, and shelters. Even our old and handicapped animals like to play and enjoy life.

We only exist due to our generous supporters. We are a 501C3 non-profit, formed in March 2010.
