The next Discount Nail day is on Sunday, December 1st, from 2-4pm. It is a walk-in service, no appointment necessary. For this event, our prices are $5 per dog. We still offer nails as a walk-in service during our regular hours, but for the regular price of $15.

If your dog is averse to other dogs, or fearful of the process, please bring them on a regular day. While we have great luck with reconditioning fearful dogs, it starts with setting them up for success (like picking a more calm day to learn). If your dog does not do well on nail day, we are happy to try another day to get your pup where it needs to be.

In case evacuations are needed for the Hualapai Fire, we have available kennels at The Altered Dog. Please reach out if you've got an old guy that can't handle the smoke, or if things get worse. Details to be arranged individually. We can currently accommodate:

A.) 4 small dogs, 4 large dogs
B.) 8 small dogs

And

A.) One giant dog
B.) Two large dogs who can safely be kenneled together when stressed.

While we have the boarding plans on hiatus, I was successful in having the zoning changed to allow this for emergencies. I also highly recommend Watch Dog Boarding for boarding needs, as they can handle a larger scale of dogs when needed, are more equipped to handle longer term stays, and provide quality and educated care.

Every single dog should be comfortable in a crate. Even if you dont regularly use it, conditioning your dog to understand it is a safe, decompression zone is vital. Some dogs naturally like it, some have an aversion from past experiences. Don't cater to their fear, but rather show them that it is a good thing.

In the event of an evacuation or vet visit, you don't want your dog panicking while there is already a stressful situation. You want your dog to be calm enough to feel safe. Otherwise it's going to be more difficult for everyone.

Unpopular opinion in the pet dog space, but vital for setting your dog up for success in case of emergency. There are hundreds of reasons to crate train, these are just a few.

Another is fire safety. When your dogs are crated, if there’s a fire, you know exactly where to tell first responders to find them. Many animals will hide during fires, not try to escape. Making sure they’re in a designated easy-to-find place in an emergency greatly increases their chances of being rescued.
