The National Lacy Dog Registry has a long, rich history that has been supported by many individuals. Today, I (Sean Cockrell) have become the latest in a long line of men and women putting their hearts and souls into this registry. So much has been done yet there is so much left to accomplish with the NLDR.
The NLDR was originally established by Betty Leek. Later it was purchased and incorporated as a 501c3 nonprofit by Courtney Farris. I give them both great credit and praise for all their forethought and most of all for the actions they took.
It is very easy to sit by the sideline and complain and talk big. These ladies took action. They took action, not just with the administration of this registry but hands-on with these dogs. For this, I respect them more than any administrator, officer, or promoter of these dogs.
I will continue in the same hands-on-with-the-dogs spirit. I will also continue with the nonprofit, public service approach as a 501c3 that Courtney set up. I plan to completely eliminate club politics and replace them with an open culture that is based on proof.
I have made the decision to de-couple this registry from its supporting association, the National Lacy Dog Association. Under my guidance, the National Lacy Dog Registry will move into the realm of public service and out of the world of clubs and cliques. Proof will be the measure of a dog man while the words of his cohorts will demonstrate his lack thereof.
The NLDR will honor all NLDA memberships and will now be open to all people from all groups, regardless of friendships, acquaintances, alliances, affiliations, and all ways of human organization that seek to differentiate people and split them into competing factions. The NLDR will register Texas Blue Lacy dogs of all colors and all backgrounds based on the conformation, quality, and proof of individual dogs.
I have been most focused on our data and the registry database. I can assure you that our registration database is thorough, secure, and capable of supporting our mission to preserve the Lacy breed and we are in a very strong position to improve the breed! I will accept nothing less than taking the Blue Lacy dog to a prominent position in ranching and hunting.
In the coming months, I will be revamping the website - www.lacydogregistry.com - to reflect changes. Basically, the only changes are that the standards are going up and processes are being simplified.
Email, [email protected], is now the preferred method of communication. Make note of the new mailing address in Zephyr, TX, if you plan to continue using paper mail.
Thank you for your continued support of the NLDR!
