Meet Sadie, one of our Vietnamese potbelly pigs and an undercover shade enthusiast. ☀️🐷

Sadie is one of our most shy residents, and she loves to escape the heat (and attention) under the goats’ bed. Not exactly built for pig comfort, but when you’re an introvert in a heatwave, you get creative. 😅

Vietnamese potbellies are known for their intelligence and strong personalities, and Sadie’s definitely got both… even if she prefers to express them from the safety of her secret hideout.

Let’s be honest—same, girl. Same.

Howdy Neighbors – I’m the founder of Rewild Refuge Farm Sanctuary in Kingston, WA, a non profit where we care for over 30 rescued large farm animals. As part of our ongoing emergency preparedness, we’re working on our fire evacuation plan—but there’s one critical challenge:

We do not currently have a livestock trailer to evacuate our animals in the event of a wildfire or other emergency.

To keep our animals safe until we are able to purchase our own trailer, we’re creating a list of local community members with trailers who may be willing to assist if the need arises. If you own a horse or livestock trailer and would be open to helping in an emergency, please reach out—we’d love to connect and add you to our emergency contact list.

Your support could mean the difference between life and death for our rescues. Thank you for being part of our village! 🐴🐷🐑❤️

🎉 This past weekend, we threw our beloved Penny a Pink Pony 31st Birthday Party! 🎀🐴

We rescued Penny back in 2020, before Rewild Refuge was even an official 501(c)(3). She was 2 day away from being euthanized because her former owner didn’t want to cover her vet bills or feed a horse they couldn’t “use.”

After bringing her home, we learned she had DSLD (Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Desmitis) and advanced osteoarthritis. Both our vet and hoof trimmer recommended euthanasia—but we decided to let Penny tell us when she was ready.

Here we are, five years later—which is a miracle in itself!

Every single day with Penny is a gift. Caring for her isn't always easy—she’s on medications and joint injections, eats only grain mash 5x a day, and some days her body aches more than others.

But she’s happy. She roams our pastures with her best buddy Charlie, and she loves visitors and grooming sessions!

We’re endlessly grateful for the time we've had with her and for the love and lessons this fiery red-headed mare continues to teach us.

Happy 31st, Penny. You are worth celebrating every single day! 💕🎂

Our biggest needs are sunscreen for the piggies, belly balm for our horse Paloma who is allergic to fly bites, cleaning rags, cool calories for our senior horses, and we can always, always use Tractor Supply gift cards as we spend about $400 a week there on grain/feed/ shavings!
