๐ฆ Beware cat owners! Even though cats are atypical hosts for heartworms, they can still cause major health issues.
Within 75 to 90 days after a cat is bitten by an infected mosquito, heartworm larvae can reach the pulmonary arteries, resulting in heartworm-associated respiratory disease (HARD). Signs of HARD include coughing, increased respiratory effort, and vomiting that resemble feline asthma. In some cases, heartworms can mature to adulthood, which can be fatal for cats with smaller hearts.
Providing year-round heartworm prevention is an important part of your petโs health care plan. If you would like to discuss the various preventives, contact our team at by calling , so we can determine what protocol would best fit you and your petโs lifestyle.
