Tomorrow, Dec 2nd is Giving Tuesday!

Giving Tuesday, is an annual day of giving, designed to encourage people to give back to their communities.

Supporting your local animal shelter is a great way to participate in such a great cause. Monetary gifts can be made directly to your local animal shelter to help defray the high cost of veterinarian services and other necessary items needed to fulfill its mission of helping needy animals in your community.

Please consider donating to the Kingston Animal Shelter’s “Animal Care Fund”. 100% of donated proceeds goes to pay for vet care for its shelter’s furry residents.

Monetary donations can be made or sent to the Kingston Animal Shelter 28 Evergreen Street, Kingston, MA 02364. They can also be made directly at the Kingston Animal Hospital 192 Main Street Kingston. Please mention a donation is being made to the Kingston Animal Shelters Animal Care Fund.

Your donations are greatly appreciated and may be tax deductible.

Thank you for your support!

Never a dull moment at Animal Control. We received a call of a dolphin washed up on Grey's Beach this morning. Unfortunately, she had already passed but thanks to the amazing work of the Whale and Dolphin Conservation and Animal Control's brute strength, we were able to safely carry her to their truck for transport to the rescues facility in Plymouth. Great work team!

Thank you Kingston Massachusetts Police Department comfort dog, Mabel (and Officer Hurley) for these lovely donations from the Middle School. Our shelter animals are happy to have them!

We hate to quill your vibe, but… porcupines can’t shoot their quills — no matter what cartoons told you.

Their quills are just modified hairs that detach easily if a predator (or unlucky dog) gets too close.

So if you see a porcupine, don’t panic — it’s not loading ammo. It just wants to snack on tree bark and slowly (but pointedly) go about its business.

Do you know what animal is the main predator of porcupines in Massachusetts? 👇 Share your guess in the comments!

About Us

Kingston Animal Shelter provides temporary housing for lost, stray, or abandoned cats and dogs in our community until they find their way home by reuniting with their owners or adoption! The shelter is given a small operating budget from the town for heat and electricity but all other care is possible through donations and volunteering. The whole shelter, our Wet Nose Pet Food Bank, and the animals that stay inside depend on donations for food, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, cat litter, vet care, etc. along with the time and tender care of hardworking volunteers for survival. The shelter has received countless donations from the community, which is how we are able to save the helpless pets we house. The shelter animals are so grateful for the generosity that the Town of Kingston’s community continues to show them! The Kingston Animal Control team works out of the Kingston Animal Shelter and includes two part-time Animal Control Officers: Joanna “Jo” Boudreau and Meghan E. Wrightington. The Town of Kingston also has the Animal Inspector: Debra J. Mueller who handles barn inspections and animal quarantines. The shelter and animal care is also maintained by so many wonderful volunteers, for without their dedication, the shelter would not be so accommodating.
