Once again, for those of you who know me, know I am not one to post the on goings here at Paws Unlimited but because my girl Mamma Bear had such a huge fan club I wanted to let you all know that on Thurs. at approximately 3:30 a.m. Mamma took her last breath. She had been dealing with some health issues but she was strong willed and was battling them full speed ahead. I was sleeping next to her and as always when she wanted attention she would reach out to me with her front paw and tap me. She tapped me, looked me in the eye, licked my hand, took a deep breath and passed away. I am numb, in shock and very sad. Mamma arrived at paws just over 3 years ago, weighing in at 135 lbs. I called her my walking sausage. In just over a year she got down to a very trim 90 lbs. It became very clear shortly after her arrival that Mamma was very special and she was going to move into the cottage with me. After the initial shock of having her life totally change she decided that being at Paws was going to be okay. My job was to get weight off of her, let her know she was safe and during her stay she would be cared for and loved as much as humanly possible. I did my very best and hope I fulfilled my obligations. If Mamma loved me just a fraction of how much I loved her I think the mission was accomplished. She loved everyone she met and definitely enjoyed all of the attention she got from everyone. My heart has a large hole and I know with time it will heal but for now I need to swim through the sadness and focus on the happiness she brought into my life. Until we meet again know you are missed and loved with all of my heart. Shari

Shari founded Paws Unlimited in 2001 and her heart and soul are inseparable from Paws Unlimited. She has devoted her life to heal the pain and hurt of each abandoned senior dog she rescues. She provides Love, Food, Shelter, Veterinary Care to these homeless dogs. Her ultimate dream is to find each one a forever home with a loving family, till then they remain safe and loved in her care.
