URGENT!! THESE PUPS NEED FOSTER HOMES STARTING TOMORROW NOVEMBER 25th!!! We know it’s right before Thanksgiving, but please find room in your hearts and homes for one of these tiny dogs. We are trying to pull off a second intake with our new Southern California partner (thank you to all who made the first one possible!), and the timing isn’t ideal but they are really struggling with space challenges because of the fires that required shelters and residents to evacuate. We are hoping to bring over six or seven small pups tomorrow, but they need places to stay. Only those we can confirm foster homes for tonight will be able to make it onto transport. Please help us save them! All are good with other dogs, very smart, and will need plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and basic training. In the slides are: Diva, an 8-month-old Maltese mix girl only 6 lbs; Dagen, a 1-year-old yorkie mix boy only 8 lbs; Reeses, a 10-year-old Maltese mix girl 13 lbs; Divo, an 8-month-old Pomeranian boy only 6 lbs; Leo, a 4-month-old Chi mix only 4 lbs; Doodle, a 2-year-old Schnauzer/poodle about 15 lbs; Oreo, a 1-year-old shih tzu/maltese mix 10 lbs. Milo, thinking himself some pretty hot s**t, asked the groomer for the wolf in sheep’s clothing look. Somewhat humbled, he came out resembling a dog in a lamb costume. Whoopsie. He had a rockstar thing going on when he walked through that door that almost screamed deviant.The kind of dog that would not only hold but caress eye contact with you while pi***ng on your stuff. Utterly sanitized now, he actually looks much more like he behaves — polite, respectful, eager to please. This 3-year-old standard poodle (50 curly lbs) is lovely, housebroken, very smart and social, and a fast learner. He’s been ok left home alone so far and is cuddly without being needy. He could use some continued leash training, especially with greeting other dogs — he often gets so excited to say hi that he can’t contain himself, doesn’t read their interest level accurately, and overwhelms them or gets frustrated if he can’t get close. A little impulse control is what he needs, plus an active lifestyle. Like 90 min of exercise every morning + potty breaks and brain games. His foster mom says: “Milo is the sweetest, snuggliest, smartest gentle giant. He is great in the apartment — potty trained, not destructive, and mostly quiet. He is constantly looking to put his head in your lap or lean his head into your legs but is happy to relax by himself if you need to get things done. He is very food motivated and eager to please which makes training easy and fun. He is still learning manners on the leash as he adjusts to the city but has been improving every day. With his long legs, he would make a great running buddy. After a good 60-90 minute walk in the morning, he is happy to nap until he gets some afternoon playtime and another walk, and he is content to chill at home or at our local coffee shop saying hi to everyone who passes by. URGENT!! WE NEED 16 FOSTER HOMES STARTING SATURDAY 1/27!!! Barely anyone has emailed offering to foster — without your help, we literally cannot save these dogs, and we’ll have to rescue our intake goal. PLEASE!!!! It’s only 16, we know you’re out there. The adults were trying to take in spend most of their time outdoors and are cold, they deserve warm homes — we all have to do our part to get them to safety. These pups are friendly and good with other dogs — all will need lots of patience and guidance as they decompress and navigate their new lives in the NYC area. Please give them their second chances! ALL ARE ELIGIBLE FOR OUR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT PROGRAM (must pick up Saturday 1/27). In the slides are: Curry, a 9-week-old heeler mix baby girl 5 lbs; Churo, a 9-week-old heeler mix boy 5 lbs; Apple, an 11-week-old hound mix girl 14 lbs; Olive, a high energy 4-month-old border collie mix girl that’s 16 lbs of brains; S’mores, an overweight 8-year-old lab mix boy that’s good with cats!; Kempton, a 1-year-old Shar Pei/lab boy 46 lbs of sugar; Radish, a sweet and curious 4-year-old bluetick coonhound mix girl 52 lbs.
