Tip of the day: Teach your dog the art of doing nothing. Place training is a great tool for this behavior. Teach your dog that when the door bell rings; do nothing, when another dog walks by you; do nothing, when a rabbit, squirrel, deer ect… enters the yard; do nothing, when people approach you; do nothing! Allie in her second morning of training is quickly becoming a rockstar! Today we were able to advance heel work in the grass where the nose typically is a challenge. We also worked our sit/stay, a little down/stay, place, and recall. I found out yesterday that she is a bit reactive to other dogs and we are slowly fixing her reactivity issues as well. Just saw the Tick Mitt on shark tank last week, ordered on Amazon for $20. I figured I’d give it a try and is much easier than brushing. Tick attaches to microfibers on glove versus just brushing them off with the dog brush. Also we ordered the Ruff dog indestructible buster dog toy for Rudy. Not so indestructible, but the longest lasting toy Rudy has ever had. Ruff dog has a lifetime guarantee. We sent it back and they sent a replacement within a week. Also ordered on Amazon for about $32.

Beginning May 12, 2025, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services, in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and several local health departments (LHDs), will begin distributing oral rabies vaccine (ORV) baits by air and ground to immunize wild raccoons in targeted areas of northeastern Ohio.

Baiting will take place in Ashtabula, Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull counties, including the
cities of Ashtabula, Belle Vista, Boardman, Conneaut, Edgewood, Hubbard, Niles, Poland, Salem, Struthers, Youngstown, and Warren. Operations are expected to conclude by May 20, 2025, weather
permitting.
