Animal Enrichment!
Our animals well being, happiness, and health are some of our top priorities here at Hovatter’s Wildlife Zoo and one way to provide that is with animal enrichment! Animal enrichment such as trees to scratch on, ledges to climb, and activities to do provide the animals with a creative outlet for physical activity and mental exercise, as well as choice and control over how they spend their time! Our tigers, lions, leopards, hyenas, and bears received some “Jungle Balls” this week! This Jungle Ball has a rigid sidewall, made of non-toxic hard plastic that is resistant to chewing and scratching, which is perfect for the large animals! We love to have fun here at the zoo and as you can see, the animals do too!

We always try to pick the best weekend for our opening day so that everyone can come enjoy a beautiful day with our beautiful animals! We were originally hoping to be able to open on April 6th but as you can see, we chose right by waiting until April 13th! The snow is flying here at the zoo today and we are expected to get even more tomorrow! But, if you look ahead to April 13th, it’s looking like it’s going to be a beautiful, warm, sunny day & we hope it stays that way! Mark your calendars for April 13th and we hope to see you ALL on opening day!!

•SANTA & THE GRINCH
Santa and the Grinch will be at Wild Lights at the Zoo every night we are open up until Dec. 23rd!
Dec. 23rd will be the LAST day they are here! Get your cameras ready cause you get to take your own pictures with them for FREE!!
•ADMISSION
$5 per person 3 years old and up
Children 2 and under are FREE
*We take CASH & CARDS - we recommend cash for a faster admission process.
There is an additional 3.5% charge added to “credit” cards.
•SPECIAL EFFECT GLASSES
When you look at the lights with the glasses on, it turns the lights into shapes like elves, snowflakes, gingerbread men, and others! Glasses are $2 each.
•ANIMALS & ANIMAL FOOD
Please note, though this event is along the zoo walkways, this event is not specifically for viewing animals. Some animals will not be on exhibit. Though not all animals will be out, there will be some animals out that love the cool weather! We will have animal food for sale for those animals that will come out to say hello like our camels, llamas, goats, and other hoof stock.
Popcorn - $2 a bag
Zoo biscuits - $2 a cup
Grass feed - $3 a cup
Animal Food Package Deal - All 3 animal food options packaged in a bag for only $5!
•CONCESSIONS
All the excitement will make you hungry!
We will have hot chocolate, coffee, and buttered popcorn for sale in the gift shop! You can enjoy these snacks as you walk through the lights!

Wild Lights at the Zoo
Our staff is working hard to get all of the lights set up so we can begin “Wild Lights at the Zoo”!!
We can’t wait to spend the holidays with YOU! This will be a walk through light display that you can enjoy with your family and friends! As you sip on some hot chocolate and listen to Christmas music, look at all the bright, beautiful lights and maybe even some of our animals that love the cold weather! Don’t miss out!!
