Please come meet our available pets! We have ~70 dogs and ~35 cats in our building right now. That’s over 100 animals who deserve a loving home and will likely spend this Christmas in a shelter! We know that we have a lot of pit mixes. Overbreeding by irresponsible breeders and an abundance of stigma regarding the breed has a lot to do with that. We are always more than happy to discuss your family’s needs to make sure we’re sending you home with a dog or a cat that fits your lifestyle. Please come check these babies out - your next companion may be waiting for you at the shelter!
Fergie comes out of her shell
Having a friend by your side can make all the difference in the world. Fergie is very shy and scared here at the shelter, but having a confident friend showed us who she really is and what she can be! She is playful and energetic and fun! Fergie is a 6 month old boxer mix and we need to find her a home or rescue foster with at least one other confident companion to be her bestie! Help us get a home for Christmas!
Elmer is progressing
Compassion, now Elmer, is doing so well!! Everyone please stop and help us thank his foster! Elmer would not be making these great strides if it wasn’t for the foster. Please consider applying to adopt Elmer! He has done well with cats, ducks, geese and would do best with another confident dog in his life!! We will always root for the underdog.
Petey
Petey is jumping for joy on this beautiful Thursday morning! He’s confident that someone will see his wonderful personality and cute face and will bring him home in time for his first Christmas!
Ruger is still here
We had a very early morning rescue today, but there is a benefit to being here at 6 am when no one else is here! We get to spend some one on one time with some of the babies! Ruger is a great dog! Walks great on a leash, is comfortable inside, house trained, loves his toys, easy to correct and goes right in his kennel when told. Perfect boy needs a home for Christmas!
Java
Java is a 6-7 year old mix and weighs about 50 lbs. She is dog friendly, but no cats. Java is one of our longest residents and she needs out! Dogs are simply not meant to live in this environment long term. They will break down eventually and Java has started showing signs of deterioration. We need someone to come for her now! Even if you can’t adopt, just come walk her! Getting to interact with different people is so good for them! Available for adoption or rescue by 591-c3 rescues
Our wish for Blade
We hear “it’s just a cat” on a regular basis, and we wholeheartedly disagree. Blade came to us injured and sick, but he is not just a cat. He is unique and capable of great love. We want to find someone that loves and treasures him and will never dessert him. A family who knows he is not “just a cat.” This is our wish for all of our cats.
Truman had a great time today in our cat display room! Truman is 7 months old, and has been with us since August. He hasn’t had much interest yet, despite spending some time over at Petsense, and we are not sure why. He is super playful and a very outgoing cat, who loves to be around people. He is already neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped, so all he needs is an approved adopter! Come and meet him tomorrow from 12-6!
Ruger on intake
As you saw in our last post, Ruger has adjusted to shelter life, but it was not easy. People reach out to us on a daily basis to surrender their dogs, and sometimes the reasons are valid. However, please understand that your dog searches for you. Your dog cries in the kennel. Your dog just struggles at first. Thankfully we have got a very dedicated and caring team who helps them through it, but please consider this before surrendering your dog to any shelter. #adoptashelterpet
