DOG FOOD RECALL

On September 22, Answers Pet Food voluntarily recalled certain lots of Answers Detailed Beef Formula for Dogs, Answers Straight Beef Formula for Dogs, and Answers Straight Chicken Formula for Dogs after samples collected by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration were reported to have tested positive for the presence of Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.

Answers Pet Food does not use lot codes. However, affected products can be identified by a “Best Used By Date” (BUBD) sticker on the product carton.

The affected pet food consists of 4-pound (half gallon) cartons of:

**New AKC requirement for handlers effective 1 Jan 25**

ALL professional handlers need to request an agent number from AKC. (Form is at the end of the article).

As pro handlers are representing dogs in a professional manner this is just a step in accountability.

AKC has no way of knowing right now who are professionals.

This agent number will allow the professional to be listed in catalog. (Accountability)

This could possibly prevent those pro handlers that show in OH (Owner Handler). If you have an agent number you can't show in OH period. (Accountability)

Being listed in the catalog shows proof of income earned. Those should be paying taxes (AKC likely doesn't care about this part, but shows Accountability and compliance)

All those who represent AKC in a professional manner are required to take the Darkness to Light program.

Your agent number will be issued once the form is submitted with your Darkness to Light certificate.

In July 2024, The AKC Board of Directors voted to establish a policy to require all professional handlers and agents listed in dog show catalogs to successfully complete the Stewards of Children® training from Darkness to Light once every three years effective January 1, 2025.
