Hey everyone! For those of you that don’t know me, I’m Alyssa. I have been actively fostering for the humane society for about 3 years now and have been a part of placing over 80 dogs into new homes in that time.

I have two goals for 2025. One of them being active in sharing my knowledge of fostering with our local community. The hope being I can encourage a few others to join with the Adair County Humane Society. Their plates are consistently overflowing, and having even a few more (good) fosters could make a world of difference!!

I will be hosting my first foster class this February at WagMore LLC - Kirksville 😍🐕🦮🐕‍🦺🐈 It will cover a variety of topics including body language and how to understand dogs, what will be expected of you and what’s provided by the shelter, what to expect, what’s concerning and what isn’t, how to promote, and more! Focus will be on dogs as that’s where I have more experience, but we also work with kitty fosters and I will share a bit of that as well.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have and I’d be glad to answer! Or if there are particular things you’d like addressed in the class, let me know!

UPDATE: We have been told a maroon GMC Envoy is the vehicle that dumped this poor girl out by the highway.
A City employee saw someone open their car door and dump this poor girl out but the highway entrance to the shelter. She appears to have nursing puppies somewhere. She is very scared right now but we were able to get her in a vehicle. Unfortunately our cameras do not reach the highway
