Christmas Eve morning and evening feeding time at the farm 🤍
From the quiet peace of morning chores to a full heart in the evening, today was one for the books. Sara and the boys joined me for evening feeding, and together we wrapped up a truly beautiful day surrounded by the horses, fresh air, and so much gratitude. Moments like these remind us why this place—and this community—means so much. 🎄🐴✨

Ok this is a difficult post. A couple of weeks ago we decided to end Bear’s suffering. We had been dealing with an illness with Bear for months and exhausted our options so our vet agreed and he crossed the rainbow bridge. He was the black cat with the red collar (which eventually faded to be a pink collar).

Then Olive was having issues so I took her to the vet on Monday. We thought we had a good plan and I was hopeful that she could recover but she crossed the rainbow bridge on Tuesday. Olive was a favorite. She came to us as a feral 6 week old kitten and became the most social, loving cat. She was definitely born to be a therapy cat. She was mama to so many kittens we fostered but she never had a litter of kittens. And the Queen of the barn cats. She loved to hang on everyone’s shoulder (my fault). She was a friend to most of the horses. Olive would hang out with Star when she was in her stall, would follow our participants and volunteers around the farm. A little known fact: Sara’s cat, Pixie, is Olive’s sister. Olive would go to Sara’s house to find me if she thought I was in the house when she couldn’t find me in the barn. And Sara would invite her in to confirm I wasn’t in the house on occasion. What is your favorite Olive story?

Tuesday night with our volunteers during feeding time—hay being shared, and hearts feeling full. 💛
Emma soaked up the attention with some especially sweet moments, reminding us that connection happens in the quiet, everyday routines. We’re so grateful for our volunteers who show up, care deeply, and make nights like this possible.

Monday Night with our participant. It will be his last lesson for a few months while he plays a sport. I am so proud of him. He has been coming 1-2 days a week for the last few years so he has earned his break from the barn but we will miss him (and his family).
