Kina and Duke were both adopted into wonderful homes!

It's vet day for Aurora and two other piggies. Aurora had the bump on her face removed and as well as few (unexpected) rotten teeth! She arrived at our rescue in early July from a hoarding surrender where she had been living among piles of trash with 3 other pigs.

Her face was with crusted black with dirt and dried f***s, so we were worried about melanoma at first. She kept scratching the bump open, so, along with the scary location, removal was important. The bump is pink and thankfully she is already spayed so her procedure was simple. We'll get the biopsy results soon; let's hope it's benign! Her vet bill today was covered by a very kind officer that helped with the case 💗

CASE 362 UPDATE:

Great news! You remember Spike, aka Jodi, from our April 25 rescue of two starving dogs. Star was adopted a few weeks ago and is doing well.

Jodi has also gone to a wonderful home and living her best life! Thanks to the wonderful couple who gave her a forever home!

Thanks to Humane Police Officer Susan Clark for finding a rescue, and transporting, Buttercup and Snowball, two nice dogs left homeless when their person was evicted and had to move across the country without her beloved pets.

We are so excited to partner with the Armstrong County Jail to launch a program to benefit prisoners, the community and animals in crisis! That's Warden Hicks, HPO K9 Charlotte, and HPO O'Donnell in the picture!

A majority of members of Armstrong County prison board this week voted to approve the establishment of a prison-based dog training program (PDP)at the county jail (ACJ).

Hey, I am sorry this page hasn't had any recent news. I was on vacation last week to attend my mother's memorial service in Bryce Canyon.

My niece, Shelly Jirak, and I swung by Best Friends in Kanab, UT and volunteered for two days. Here we are by the sign, and also me, getting to know one of the residents, a pig named Kevin.

What a difference six weeks can make in the life of a dog!

We found "Scar" almost starved to death on April 26. She was 20 pounds!

On Friday, at 40+ pounds (what she should weigh) Star was adopted and went to a wonderful home!

We are so happy for this great girl and the people who adopted her!

There are no words to describe our appreciation to those who donated during the Armstrong Week of Giving!

Our Cash per Case (CpC) program helps cover some of the costs of our three volunteer humane police officers, providing $30 per case to help cover some of the costs of investigating and prosecuting animal cruelty and neglect including vehicle fuel, catch poles, and emergency animal supplies for families in need.

We began the Week of Giving with a CpC balance of -$304.23.

We hoped to raise $3,600 to cover our expected caseload for a year — about 120 cases.

We are thrilled to report that the total amount raised was $6,698.92, or enough for 190 cases, or more than a year’s worth of calls! ($1,000 was earmarked by a donor to pay for insurance on one of the humane vehicles.)

Our humane police officers could not do what they do without our donors who help us to help those with no voice.
