UPDATE: We are so excited! These two found a great new home where they will be pampered and loved for the rest of their lives. Thanks to everyone who shared this post. You all are amazing.

We are still desperately trying to find a good home for these two sweethearts. They both are adults, but are healthy and friendly. Right now, they are living in a kennel here. We are pampering them the best that we can, but they deserve better than we can give them.

Please give us a call if you are interested or know somebody who might be.

Say hello to Tigger and Sassy. These two have been pampered and spoiled their whole lives. Unfortunately, their sweet owner passed away and they are looking for a new lap to keep warm.

They both have a few years behind them, but are very healthy and active. Tigger is a little shy, but warms up quickly.

If you would like to give these two a new place to call home, let us know. If you know anybody who does, please share this. They will be here waiting to meet you! Give us a call at 883-3985.

Oregon veterinarians are now allowed to resume non-emergent and elective procedures under guidance from the Oregon Health Authority with requirements for PPE usage, infection control, and physical distancing. Veterinary practices will be prioritizing this care for their patients as best fits their situation. We know Oregonians love their animals and our members are grateful to be able to continue to provide veterinary care for you during this time, with added attention to the health and safety of clients and staff.

The world is in a difficult place right now and we are trying to do our part to help it heal but it comes at an inconvenience.

Not being here for you is not an option we are willing to take. In an effort to minimize contact, we are restricting access to the lobby. We have installed a front door intercom system that goes right to the front desk. We are also encouraging you to check in using your phone in your car. A staff member will then come get your pet.

In an effort to decrease unnecessary exposure of the clinic staff, we have also decided to temporarily close on Saturdays. We hope this is short term, and will go back to business as usual when it is safe to do so.

These safety measures add inconvenience to you and we understand that. These were not easy decisions to make. Thank you very much for understanding. We will eventually get through this together.

Oregon veterinarians have been directed by Gov. Brown to stop *elective* surgical procedures no later than March 23 so that masks, gowns, and gloves (PPE) can be preserved. Examples would include a spay or neuter or a dental cleaning. Your veterinarian will provide guidance relative to your specific animal's needs, such as rescheduling a procedure to a later date (no earlier than June 15 per the Executive Order) if it fits the requirement to preserve PPE. Veterinary services such as exams and vaccinations do not require PPE so they can continue. Your veterinarian may have put new protocols in place to limit physical contact between staff and clients, which means you may not be able to go into the clinic with your pet. Please be understanding. We want to keep veterinarians and their staff physically well so that they can keep caring for our animals. If your pet is on medication, takes parasite preventives, or eats a veterinary therapeutic diet, ask your veterinarian about how you can order those items online to avoid trips out of the house. Veterinarians are also allowed to use telemedicine at their discretion. Our members and the entire veterinary team cares deeply about your animals, and are working hard to continue caring for them in this challenging time. We're all in this together. Gov. Brown has asked veterinarians to donate PPE to the human healthcare effort and many have so far, with more to come.

To our valued clients:

As you are aware, the COVID-19 virus has continued to dominate the news in the US, as well as around the world. We here, at South 6th Veterinary Clinic, are still here for your pets and wanted to outline some steps that we are implementing in order to help with social distancing. If you have any concerns about reducing person-to-person contact, we offer the following options:

For all services (routine and surgical) we can obtain both you and your pet’s information on the phone prior to your appointment or from the parking lot. Call our office once you arrive and we will meet you in our parking lot, collect your information and es**rt your pet inside. After the services have been performed, we then bring your pet back to outside to you.

For pharmacy and pet food related items, we can also bring those items out to you, so you won’t need to leave your car. Again, just call our office once you arrive and let us know what you need. In the case of medication refills, please give our office at least a 30 minute notice before pick-up so we have time to get those ready for you.

We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter. We know that there may be extended wait times as we implement these new methods. Please know that we are trying our best to make the situation work for everyone. Thank you!
