We are a small rabbitry raising Harlequins (Magpies & a few Japanese in all color varieties - black, blue, chocolate & lilac) for show, meat, and fur. I've been raising rabbits now since 1990, when I purchased a pair of crossbreed rabbits from a local 4H'er. Over the years, I've raised French Lops, English Lops, Holland Lops, Mini Lops, Jersey Wooly, Silver Fox, Champagne D'Argents, Rex, Mini Rex,

Himalayans, French Angoras, Florida Whites, Satins, Harlequins, New Zealands, Lionheads, American Chinchillas, and a few various Crossbreeds. I've shown French Lops, English Lops, Satins, Florida Whites, Holland Lops, Silver Fox, Jersey Wooly, New Zealands, Harlequins, American Chinchillas, Himalayans, and Champagne d'Argents. Loved them ALL! We believe strongly in educating people about rabbits whether they have them as pets, as a source of food, or for showing. Rabbits are wonderful and amazing creatures. If properly cared for they can provide years of entertainment, joy, and love.

Been quite a while since I've been on here. We have had a few new litters born this month. Some disappointments, lost a few older animals which is always heartbreaking, but all in all we've had a great year. Hope to post some new photos soon. Here's to looking forward to a new year with new beginnings and many blessings! Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years and welcome to the new folks. We are here for the love of rabbits and enjoy spreading education whenever possible!

We have had a few changes around here. The English Lops are down to just 1 trio that will live the rest of their lives out here. No longer breeding. Harlequins have expanded a little bit to include Japanese! We welcomed Lilac Japanese doe SRRP Kaitlynn to our rabbitry several months ago and she has since given us a couple litters with some keepers. Still on the lookout for a nice Japanese buck! We have a few litters due tomorrow, 1 litter in the box, and a couple other litters that are being weaned today. Many more to come!! I hope to add some pictures here soon, but have been EXTREMELY busy with work!

As someone who has raised rabbits for a number of years, I am always amazed to go back look at pictures that remind me of my humble beginnings! Came across some pictures of my 1st rabbits. 1991 & 1992 - crossbreed rabbits & my 1st French lops - Bobo & Frazzle Dazzle. Their offspring started me into showing and I learned very quickly what our faults were - low shoulders!

07/07/2017

We have some beautiful harlequin babies coming up soon as well as some brood stock that we will be moving along. There are several that will be available in the coming months. Getting some great clarity of color & markings. Pictures coming soon!

03/20/2017

For anyone who might be interested. There will also be 2 open shows and 2 harlequin specialties!

Rare breed enthusiasts, WCC is your show in 2017! For the first time at WCC, a show solely devoted to rare breeds will highlight the beauty of some of ARBA's most treasured and elusive breeds.

A couple of my new favorites babies I have right now. Hopefully I will find time soon to take some photos. My cell phone is no longer wanting to take pictures, so it makes a bit challenging to snap & post random photos!

So another ARBA convention hits the history books! My English Lops did better than I ever expected! Hopping Hearts' Bugati won his solid intermediate buck class and went on to win Best of Variety Solid out of 121 solid English Lops. He now has 6 GC legs at 7 months old and has only attended 3 shows! His brother Bentley was 2nd in their class. Sister Mercedes won her class of broken intermediate does and younger 1/2 siblings all placed in the top 10 of their classes. Hopping Hearts' Amanita was 10th place broken jr. doe and went to Japan. Her sister Hopping Hearts' Maitake was 2nd place broken jr. doe (the 1st place broken jr. doe went on to win Best Opposite S*x of Breed). Their broken jr. brothers Hopping Hearts' Slippery Jack placed 9th and Hopping Hearts' Matsutake was 6th. Not too bad for not even being 5 months old yet and it was only the 2nd time they have shown! I'm pretty proud of my English Lop kids! I only showed one magpie harlequin jr. buck - a chocolate named Hopping Hearts' Rebel Rouser. He was 4th out of 6, but one rabbit in that class was disqualified. I think someone said it was overweight? Anyway, he wasn't last! Wish I had shown more harlequins. My dear friend Nikki Manley won Best of Breed with her blue harlequin buck. His daddy was a Hopping Hearts rabbit. Sometimes you just never know what you'll get out of this fascinating breed. I love seeing what others have done with rabbits that go back to my lines. I did not have the best stock to start with and to see what other people have done with the not so great offspring is amazing and gives me hope that I can continue to make improvements in my own herd.

Hopping Hearts' English Lops

05/31/2016

Had a fabulous time at the Oregon League State Convention over the weekend in Roseburg, Oregon. I tried to post a couple wins, but for some reason, they did not post! In English Lops, my boy Edens' Journey won 1st place broken senior buck all 3 shows, plus won Best Opposite S*x in Show A, and Best of Breed in show C! Very proud of my boy! His son, Hopping Hearts' Bugati, took 1st place solid junior buck in Show A & C, 2nd place in Show B, out of 6 junior bucks. He went on to also win Best Opposite of Variety in Show A, and Best of Variety in Show C. His sister, Hopping Hearts' Mercedes, was 4th of 4 broken junior does in Show A & B, but managed to pull a 1st place in Show C. My juniors were born 3/8/16, so I'm pretty proud of their accomplishments at this 1st show! My harlequins didn't do too bad either. My lilac magpie doe, Hopping Hearts' Macey, managed to win Best Opposit of Group in 2 out of 3 shows. My black magpie buck, Hopping Hearts' Fintan, won a Best of Group in Show B. Congrats to Nikki Manley of Sprague River Rabbitry & Poultry, Vanessa Jordan of Gem's Rabbitry, and Zach Rolfe of Three Cedars Rabbitry for their wins. I believe Vanessa's gorgeous Japanese took Best of Breed and Best Opposite of Breed all three shows, but our magpies gave her a run!!

Mom is Maserati and is a blue tort. Dad is Journey & is a broken cream. Can't wait to see how they turn out. They are doing great so far!

January 12th brought me a new litter of 10 magpie harlequins out of TL's Latte & NR's Mr. Bojangles, with 9 survivors. Excited to see what comes of these little guys. There are 3 blues & 6 blacks. I have my eye on at least one blue & 2 blacks for show prospects. :) These are the first harlequins in a little over a year for me. Another litter due tomorrow to Hopping Hearts' Cheer & Bainbridge Bunnies' Strike It Rich and a couple more litters at the end of the month, including my 1st English Lop litter in over 15 years!! Edens' Maserati x Edens' Journey is due January 30th. I am feeling very blessed!

Hopping Hearts Rabbitry

01/09/2016

I've been going through photos and came across this one that was the best day EVER!! A rabbit breeder's dream. My home bred English Lop Hopping Hearts' Horizon won a Reserve Best in Show in Show A & Best in Show in Show B, with my homebred French Lop doe Hopping Hearts' Gem taking Reserve Best in Show. That was at the Central Oregon Rabbit Breeders Association show in Redmond, Oregon back in 2000!! So long ago. Horizon died tragically during a bad wind & thunder storm. She was bred at the time & expecting her 1st litter. I still miss that doe!

10/25/2015

Just days away from ARBA convention! Excited to see how a few new zealands do. Even more excited to be returning home with a trio of English Lops and a new trio of magpie Harlequins!

10/07/2015

So many changes happening here at Hopping Hearts Rabbitry! ALL New Zealands will be sold now. I am happy to report that Magpie Harlequins are and will be back in the barn as well as English Lops! I have missed my lops for far too long now and have finally decided I just can't live without them!
