Everyone knows Chinese crested dogs are hairless…right? Well these sweet girls are powder puff Chinese crested dogs! One is going to loose some hair and only have hair on her legs and head. The other will have a full body of hair. Regardless of how much hair they will or will not have, they were so animated and loving.

This big floof is Apollo. He came in for a dental cleaning. Dental cleanings are vital for keeping your pet healthy! Tartar build up on teeth can introduce bacteria into the blood stream and affect major organs such as the kidneys and the heart. FOUND DOG!

A Good Samaritan found this handsome man this morning. He is very sweet and microchipped but the microchip is not registered. No collar. Animal control has been contacted so he is being transported there today. Please reach out to them if you recognize this pet!

Happy Cat-urday! This dapper young man is Murphy. He is a 14 week old domestic shorthaired kitten that was just adopted and enjoyed exploring our exam room for his first visit! He was such a good boy and got a clean bill of health!

It’s a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it 🤷🏼‍♀️

This baby is getting some charcoal after ingesting raisins. Raisins and grapes are toxic to dogs! It’s extremely important to keep them out of your dogs reach. If you have children, please put the dog in another room while they eat their snack of raisins/grapes.

It is HOT outside! With the weather in the upper 90s, please practice caution with taking your pet outside. Here is a helpful guideline for when it’s safe to walk your pet on a sidewalk, roadway, or even taking them to a farmers market.

Sunny was such a good boy for his first visit with us! Sunny is a perfect mix of golden retriever and great pyranese! He got a clean bill of health and some treats for being such a gentleman and showing off his tricks 🙂

This sweet girl came in through our emergency department. She had a wound above her eye. She was such a good sport and will make a full recovery.

We are very excited to announce the launch of our new Internal Medicine Service with Dr. James (Jim) Hummel, starting in July 2024!

We are pleased to introduce Dr. Hummel, who is originally from Northern Virginia. Dr. Hummel moved to the Triangle to attend NC State University (NCSU) College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating from NCSU, he completed a small-animal rotating internship at Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He then returned to NCSU for a residency in internal medicine. Driven by his passion for problem-solving, Dr. Hummel chose to specialize in internal medicine and has been board-certified in small animal internal medicine since 2010.

Our multidisciplinary approach and close cooperation among our specialists ensure we provide the best care for the patients entrusted to us. Supported by a trained and dedicated staff, Wake Veterinary Medical Center is committed to using science, technology, and compassion to provide exceptional care for pets and their families.
