Introducing: San Peppy Spook and Sybil🦄

Barn Name: Sam!

Tell us a little bit about your horse?

Sam was bred at Sterling Ranch in Pilot Point, Texas, he is Smart Spook x Miss San Snap. Fun fact, he is not only a trained reining horse but competes in cow horse and cutting as well.

He is also half-brother to my best friend's horse at our barn, the famous Billie. This is the main reason my Mom had him sent over from Canada, because we all love Billie so much and I have found my love of reining because of him. Sam went to Canada when he was a yearling. He was shown in various NRHA shows in the youth and non-pro before coming to us at S6 Ranch, just this summer!

Can you tell us your best memory with your horse?

Sam is my first horse that is just mine, not shared with my sisters, so that is already super special for me. The first day we were together in person (after his very long trip from Ontario, Canada), I knew right away that he was going to be the one. I will never forget that moment, when I first saw him and my heart filled with love and joy. He has been the sweetest boy and is so cuddly and friendly with every person he meets, I know I am going to love him forever.

What is a silly/quirky trait about your horse?

Any time I put Sam away when there is food, he gets a bit of food and waits for me to get his fly mask. After I put it on his mask, he waits to make sure that I don't leave before giving him a kiss good bye on his nose and his head.

Introducing: SG Spooks Full Moon and Sloane🖤

Barn Name: Ducky🦆

Tell us a little bit about your horse?

Ducky's sire is (Cats Full Moon) and his Dam is (Sheza Spook Deville). He is 13 years old and he was born on February 1, 2011. When we bought him, he was already named Ducky, which they said was because he is so fluffy, which is true (he looks like a teddy bear) but we think it's really because he walks like a duck when he's strolling out on the trail.

How did you and your horse become a team?

I was retiring my old horse Earl, and Ducky's former owners wanted him to go to a little girl and he was a great fit for me. I was 7 years old when we bought him. My Mom is still in touch with Ducky's former owners and sends them pictures of us together. His owners are both champion barrel racers although he was bred and trained as a cutting horse.

Can you tell us a most memorable experience with your horse?

When he was so happy to see me after I had a big fall and how concerned he was about me. It warmed my heart to see him like that with his forgiving eyes and how he was so sweet and gentle. I'm truly lucky to have a horse like him because he is so versatile and willing to try new things with me which I really appreciate.

Silky/quirky trait about your horse:

He will literally sleep anywhere and loves cuddling with everyone because he is such a lovable horse. He likes to eat a variety of sour candy and Doritos, thanks to my big brother Samson who sneak feeds him these treats when I'm not looking.

Introducing: Pistols Blue Cielo

Barn Name: Rocco

How did your horse get his name?

I could not for the life of me find a name that fit him. One day a friend of mine was telling me a story and she said the name Rocco and my eyes lit up and that’s when it clicked! Rocco was so fitting for his looks and personality! So around his 1st birthday, he finally got his name 🤎

How did you and your horse become a team?

I have owned Rocco since he was 10 months old, at that time I was young and broke. I made a post on Facebook seeing if any friends had any babies for sale and at that time all I had to offer was $1,000 and a cutting saddle. A guy I have known for a few years reached out to me and told me he had a few babies he picked up from a sale in Nevada and sent me photos. The moment I saw Rocco in the photos I knew he was my next horse. He was “Bay” which is my all time favorite color, had the cutest little head and was bred very well. I told the seller “I’ll take the Bay” and he laughed and said “that’s a gray colt” at first I did not believe him but here we are 7 years later with a very gray horse 🤣. By far the best deal I’ve ever made!

Favorite memory/experience with your horse?

Rocco has had very limited training, almost everything he knows has come from me watching YouTube videos of trainers or studying riders at shows and then slowly teaching him the things I observed/studied. The memory that stands out most would have to be when we showed at Gold N Grand and placed 1st out of 15+ riders under a well respected ranch riding judge. We left that arena with tears of joy streaming down my face because right then and there our hard work and dedication felt like it had finally paid off. That was a moment I will never forget!

Silky/quirky trait about your horse:

Rocco is by far a true WOMANIZER! If there is one thing that horse is great at, it is impressing the ladies! His true love at the ranch is Lulu, but don’t tell Gypsy and Freckles.
