This past weekend we attended the Golden Spurs Schooling show at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds. Not only was it the maiden voyage of our new rig, but also the first show we got to bring all three of our ranch trained 3 year olds!

Our S6 Ranch Team had a fun show doing different things outside of our norm, and our young horses took the whole day in stride, even placing in multiple classes!

Thanks to for her guidance and expertise and thanks to El Dorado County Fairgrounds for hosting this Sunday-Funday event!

Introducing: Two Smoking Barrels

Barn Name: Wes

Tell us a little bit about your horse:

Wes is 11 years old and his registered name, Two Smoking Barrels comes from his Sire, Gunner.

How long have you and your horse been a team?

We have had Wes for a little over two years. We bought him from Boyle Ranch. He is a unicorn that was put to the side. From that first ride, I knew he was the one to carry me through my reining career and steal our hearts.

What is your most favorite memory/experience you have shared with your horse?

We have two most important memories the first one being my mom’s first trail ride on him. This was a mark to a new beginning. Sharing a passion I’ve always had with my daughter opened up a whole new world. This memory became one of my core memories.

The second memory being our first run in Vegas at The Run for a Million. My goal was to qualify and everything else was just a bonus. This was our first big show together. We really bonded and meshed together for that ride and handled it so well. Once that music started playing everything else went silent. It was just me and him out there, working as a team. Nothing will ever compare to this day.

What is a silly/quirky trait about your horse?

Goofy but loving personality, willingness to eat anything Jess is eating, but pop tarts being his favorite food, the way he dives into his blankets when he’s cold, he never says no to anything even if he doesn’t understand or if it’s hard, the side eye he gives you when he’s unsure, wants to be everyone’s friend, his need for speed (Lightning McQueen).

This past weekend was the WCRHA Year End Awards banquet where our riders reflected on their growth and accomplishments this season. We looked back at both individual and collective team goals that were set for 2024, and gained perspective and excitement on what 2025 can bring.

2024 was a milestone year for many and each rider experienced incredible personal growth.

We feel fortunate to be part of an organization that celebrates the successes both big and small of each rider. Thank you wcrha

Last but not least, a huge THANK YOU to all our S6 Team members. It's a wonderful feeling knowing we are part of a barn where teammates lift each other up, help, and encourage each other. This is one of the many reasons 2024 was such a great success.

Welcome home Yuma and Moose you have already made everyone’s days so much brighter! We thought it was only right to introduce you to our newest four legged friends. Yuma and Moose have joined the S6 Ranch family and already shown us so much love. Having them around has been an absolute blast if you are at the property be sure to say hello to our newest pups they are paws-itively the best!
