Ending the first week of this teams Patrol dog school with rainy and very contaminated track. He is slowly learning how to manage his energy allowing him to find his advantage.
@k9_mike where you at with them new zero turn stripes?!?!
Muncie PD week 1 of Patrol dog school. Team is looking pretty good for green.
Had a great time the last couple of weeks on the road. Worked with a lot of great teams. Ready to be home.
K9 training was just too hard today. Ridge is pooped. Train hard and make em tired.
Solid training with perfect timing is the path to crystal clear communication. Leave a comment if you know what is going on in this video. Great training @hiltonbullco
No saved trending music needed for this one lol. Just the local dangerous wildlife picking on unsuspecting tourists.
Back to civilization!! Canโt say Iโm โhappyโ about it. This trip to Zimbabwe has been a life changing experience. We met a lot of amazing people and animals. Suzi cried as we were taking off in the bush plane from the Wilderness concession inside of the Hwange national park. Very powerful trip for sure!!!
Day three in Africa working the Anti-poaching Quick Reaction K-9 units. I had the pleasure of working with a few puppyโs to show the teams how I start new tracking dogs. We are discussing why I donโt give any dogs that I work with a track command. The views in the preserves are amazing!!
We have made it!!! We landed in Victoria Falls earlier today. Our rooms at the @nguni_lodge_ is awesome! We are pretty tired being 7 hours ahead home and pretty much two days of travel. Canโt wait to start the conference and work some dogs.
Progression!! The last part of the last video I posted. I want to point out that I am working on a couple of different things. I am letting the puppy piece behaviors together on his own. When you have a powerful and charged marker, paired with a dog who understands true existential reward, there are no limits to what can be created. I also show how to use a slight bit of pressure to achieve the down. This is another very viable option when you are working against the clock, which most of us are. Just some options for you.
Fourth track for the little heeler puppy. This is the very end of maybe a 50 yard track with a couple of turns with an article at the end. Working a bit of backchaining, allowing him to build each step of his foundation. The track has t be the primary task and the article recovery/indication must be the secondary behavior. This is not to say that the dog can blow by articles. The track must be about the track, not built around the article. IMHO
