FYI Wednesday, did you know all this about Apple Cider Vinegar?? It’s amazing for birds!

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a natural product that has been used for centuries for its many health benefits. These benefits extend to parrots as well, and ACV can be a valuable addition to a parrot's diet and healthcare routine.

Digestive health
One of the primary benefits of ACV for parrots is its potential to support digestive health. ACV is believed to help maintain a healthy pH balance in the digestive tract, which can improve digestion and nutrient absorption. It may also help to promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, which can further support digestive health.

Immune system enhancement
ACV may also have immune-boosting properties, which can be particularly important for parrots. Parrots can be prone to a variety of infections, so supporting their immune system is essential for maintaining their health. ACV contains antioxidants, which can help to protect against free radical damage and support the immune system.
In addition, ACV has been suggested to help with respiratory issues in parrots. It is believed that ACV's anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties may help to reduce inflammation and fight infections in the respiratory system.

Introducing apple cider vinegar (safely!) to your parrot
When introducing ACV to a parrot's diet, it's important to do so gradually and in moderation. It should always be diluted and never given as-is! ACV can be added to a parrot's drinking water.
If your bird is on medications, avoid giving apple cider vinegar (unless approved by you veterinarian) as the acidity could affect the efficacy of the medications.

For smaller birds:
• Health maintenance: 1 cup water + 1/4 tsp ACV for 3 days each month
• Digestive issues: 1 cup water + 1/2 tsp ACV daily for 5 days
• Respiratory problems: 1 cup water + 3/4 tsp ACV daily for 7 days
For medium/large birds:
• Health maintenance: 1 cup water + 1/2 tsp ACV for 3 days each month
• Digestive issues: 1 cup water + 1 tsp ACV daily for 5 days
• Respiratory problems: 1 cup water + 1 1/2 tsp ACV daily for 7 days
In conclusion, ACV can be a valuable supplement for parrots, with potential benefits for digestive, immune, and respiratory health. When used appropriately, ACV can be a safe and natural addition to a parrot's diet and healthcare routine.
