We are grateful to have such a generous community who donates food to our shelter every week! This allows us to not only feed our animals and stock our pet food pantry for those in need--we also get to share the love with our partner shelters across East Tennessee and beyond! Today Anderson County Animal Rescue Foundation stopped by so we could load them up for their upcoming Pet Food Pantry for Senior Citizens on Monday, September 9th!

Thank you to David & all our amazing Kennel Techs! They are an integral part of the shelter & all work extremely hard to keep our animals in the best conditions. 🙌 They are responsible for daily care including: walking, feeding, keeping an eye on medical changes and enrichment.
Our animals get play time out of their kennels 5 times a day! Every 3 hours they are rotated into the yards to spend time outside and play with each other or partake in enrichment activities! ♥️
There are no days off in animal care and we want to thank our KTs, for working tirelessly to keep our shelter clean and cozy for our animals rain or shine, during holidays & every day in between! 🐱🐾🐶

Foster Spotlight: Janae Simmonds ⭐️ Janae has 1100 service hours mostly from foster. She started with no fostering experience and now has helped with socializing, extended medical cases & even the birth of kittens! 🐱 We are so thankful for Janae sharing her foster experience. If your heart & home are open to fostering too we are here to help you every step of the way. We will provide supplies including food, litter/puppy pads, crates, even toys and beds. Fostering saves lives & we are so grateful to all our fosters! ❤️

WOW! What an incredible day of adoptions and lives saved!! Today was a tear jerker for a lot of our staff. Our very good boy, Tobias, who has been overlooked month after month at the shelter finally found his forever today!! 😭💕
We cannot thank Christian and Paris enough for seeing all of the beauty this boy has inside of him. A few of us may have shed a tear, and we will miss him every day.. but we could not be happier for Tobias and his new family. Thank you for coming in to adopt with an open mind and open heart. Happy tails sweet boy!! ♥️🐾

Paws to Visit is one of our fan favorite volunteer programs. It was such a pleasure having the students from the Ignite Program with University of Tennessee, Knoxville at the shelter this morning!! They helped out with some huge projects and got lots of smooches from our adorable puppies to thank them for their hard work. We could not be more grateful for these students dedicating their to time to improve our shelter so we can save more lives!! Thank you for showing everyone exactly what the "Volunteer" spirit is all about! ❤🐾🍊

Did y’all catch Hannah and Tobias on Living East Tennessee yesterday!? We talked about the importance of not judging an animal in the shelter based solely off of their behavior inside of a kennel.
Tobias is one of the most happy, friendly dogs but hasn’t been asked to be met with a single time since coming into our shelter 5 months ago; and that is all due to his behavior when a stranger approaches his kennel. Please take the time to watch this segment! Hopefully it will open your mind to new possibilities the next time you visit a shelter looking for your best friend ♥️🐾 And tune in every Wednesday at 10am to catch our Pet of the Week!

To know him is to love him ♥️🐾 Any person that has been able to spend time with Tobias falls in love with him immediately! He is a special dog with the sweetest soul and he needs someone to give him a chance. We understand that his behavior in his kennel can be intimidating, but he is so much more than that. After he meets you, he no longer reacts negatively when you approach his kennel—and he is a completely different dog while meeting people outside of it! He has met strangers and small children while out on a leash and has been nothing but the sweet, happy gentleman all of us here know him to be. Give Tobias a chance and come meet him this week!
