Go ahead and save this for later so you don’t forget!!

🐶 National Dog Day is right around the corner (August 26), and what better way to celebrate your dog than with a homemade treat! 🍩

We love this specific recipe, because it is SUPER easy! All you have to buy is:

🎃 1 cup pumpkin puree
🥜 1/2 cup peanut butter
😋 2 1/2 cups oats rolled/old fashion oats are fine
🍯 1/4 cup Honey
🍛 1 tsp cinnamon

And all you have to do is:

1️⃣ In a large bowl mix your oats, peanut butter, pumpkin puree, honey, and cinnamon until fully combined.

2️⃣ Form 1 1/2″ balls and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet.

3️⃣ Chill for 1 hour, and then move them to an air tight container.

You don’t even have to bake them!

Meet our newest team member: Reagan! Reagan will be servicing our new areas: Tellico Village, Tennessee National, and Lenoir City! Here’s a word from Reagan

“Reagan has always had a love for animals since a young age. In 2015 she decided to take the first step toward making her passion for dogs a career. She began by educating herself on canine behavior and participating in training classes with her own dog, focusing on leash reactivity towards other dogs.

She took her talents to PetSafe Village in late 2015 and began training dogs professionally. Following this step in her career, in early 2017, she joined a franchise where she sharpened her skills training dogs.  After four years of learning and training she decided to open her own business with her husband Will, Top Notch Canine!

In her free time Reagan loves to compete in dog sports and hang out with family. Her Belgian Malinois Cato, is a national competitor in dock diving. She also enjoys competing in; PSA, frisbee, conformation, and NACSW. On the weekends you can usually find her taking pictures of sport dogs and training at Bootleggers PSA Club.

She is an IACP professional member, a CGC evaluator, as well as a  NePoPo Silver School Graduate. Her favorite aspect of dog training is helping people be able to include their animals in even more parts of their lives, and all the joy that brings their owners.”

🗽 Did you know that around the time of July 4th is when the most dogs go missing in the U.S.?

This may not be surprising to you, since almost all dogs are TERRIFIED of the sound of fireworks! 🎆

👂 Dogs sense of hearing is by far greater than ours, so the noise is EXTRA scary to them!

So, we went ahead and outlined a few tips for you to use to prepare for 4th of July, and in hopes that there won’t be as many missing dogs come July 5! 🎇

☀️ With the summer, unfortunately, this is a REAL possibility. Check out our recent post that has tips for walking your dog during the summer.

We would NEVER wish this on anyone, but if you think you may need to go to the vet here are some signs your intuition is right.

1️⃣ Refusing to walk or limping

2️⃣ Licking or chewing at the feet

3️⃣ Pads darker in color

4️⃣ Missing part of the pad

5️⃣ Blisters or redness

🚨 PRO TIP: ALWAYS check the pavement with your hand! If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your dog!

🏜️ Have you noticed recently it’s gotten MUCH hotter? I’m sure you have! And I’m sure your dogs have noticed as well!

We wanted to share some quick tips to ensure your dogs safety through the summer heat ♨️

1️⃣ Walk your dog when it’s cooler, most likely in the morning or evening

2️⃣ Don’t run or cycle when it’s hot

3️⃣ Don’t walk on the pavement! It’s hot!

4️⃣ Pro Tip: Put your hand on the pavement to see how hot it is. If it’s too hot for you it’s too hot for your dog too.
