We follow the GRCA Code of Ethics by ensuring that we only breed OFA certified Golden Retrievers. My name is Stormy Washington and I am a future responsible breeder of Golden Retrievers. We are located near Knoxville, TN. I am a member of the GRCA and I vow to remain compliant with the Code of Ethics. I am also a member of the Sandlapper Golden Retriever Club, Tarheel Golden Retriever Club, and At
lanta Golden Retriever Club. All of our Golden Retrievers are required to have the following testing prior to breeding and links to these test results will be posted publicly:
1 - PennHip and/or OFA - Hips at 24 months or older.
2 - OFA - Elbows at 24 months or older.
3 - OFA - Heart by certified Veterinary Cardiologist at 12 months or older. The GRCA Code of Ethics only recommends a standard auscultation performed by a Veterinary Cardiologist, but all of my Goldens have Echo clearances prior to breeding.
4 - OFA - Eyes by certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist at 12 months or older and will be renewed annually.
5 - Genetic testing for the diseases that are common to Goldens, through Embark for Breeders. As an added precaution, we also test for the newer more severe variant of Ichthyosis (ICH-2). Please visit my website www.meirzahgoldenretrievers.com for more detailed information.
=======================================
Curious about where the name Meirzah comes from? It actually originates from a story that is still being written, of both tragedy and new hope. On August 6, 2020, we lost both of our female Golden Retrievers in a fire that destroyed our entire home. Both of these precious girls were being raised not only as our best friends, but also in hopes of starting a responsible breeding program with. We loved both of these girls with all our hearts and their loss has made a huge impact on us, as well as my friends in the Golden Retriever breeder community. Our "kennel name" comes from a combination of both of their names; Meira and Zahavah. Meira (means "one who illuminates" in Hebrew) was 17 months old, and Zahavah (means "golden" in Hebrew) was 23 months old, when they crossed the Rainbow Bridge. My hope is that the names of these two special girls will be honored for decades to come. Our Beginning
I have been owned by Golden Retrievers for over 30 years, but it wasn't until around October 2018, that my true interest in becoming a breeder began, so I joined many Golden Retriever Facebook groups including some specific to breeders. I made a point to develop relationships with many Golden Retriever breeders and enthusiasts, so that I could begin to learn all that I possibly can. There are several great breeders that I consider wonderful mentors and friends. On April 6th, 2021, I was graciously gifted a show prospect female from Valor Goldens, so that we may not only have another companion, but to also continue my dream. We named this special girl ADARA, in which is similar to "princess" in Hebrew. Some sources say that ADARA, also means "noble". With this gorgeous girl, my passion for conformation dog shows began. When Adara, was 3 months old, I began training with her at our local kennel club in puppy classes, as well as in conformation handling classes. When Adara was 5 months old, we started showing at our first dog shows, in the BPUP ring, at the Sandlapper GRC Specialty and then the Atlanta GRC Specialty. My love for the conformation show ring quickly grew and has become such an amazing part of my life. I have also grown to love so many other sports too, like FastCat, Barnhunt, Obedience, Rally, etc. At this time we have not trialed in Obedience or Rally, but we have been taking classes at our kennel club to prepare for her Beginner Novice and her Companion Dog titles one day in the near future. On March 17, 2022, we got Nava from Laura Kling with Laurell Goldens. Nava will be 24 months old on 12/09/2023 and I have really enjoyed playing in the ring with this sweet girl. I look so forward to what the future will bring and to see how my dream may impact others in the future.
