Today is , which means it’s the perfect day to recognize the importance of doing all we can to rescue and care for vulnerable . 🐴 Each year, tens of thousands of horses are sent to slaughter, in addition to thousands of cases of neglect and abuse. February Star Sanctuary is dedicated to doing all we can to stop these tragedies. 🐎 As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, , our goal is to rescue, rehabilitate, rehome and provide refuge to horses in need. We thank you for your support in our mission. 🙏💖

We’re shining the spotlight on another awesome volunteer this month, Kevin Alder! ✨️ A native of Maryland, Kevin is a police officer and volunteer firefighter. He grew up loving horses, excited for any opportunity to visit some and live out the dream of every kid, riding a pony. 🐴 After a vacation with his mom to the Grand Canyon where they got to go horseback riding, he was hooked. Kevin learned about our nonprofit and horse sponsorship opportunities and felt sponsorship would be a great way to not only get to know our horses, but to give back to rescues in need. As a sponsor, he enjoys the love of our horses, appreciates their unique personalities and participates in daily activities such as feeding and grooming. And of course, he loves getting to ride those that can be ridden! 🏇 Kevin truly understands our mission of helping horses find a forever home where they’ll experience the love and attention they deserve. He believes horses are incredible, strong spirited animals that can tune in to our own feelings. 💗 In the wise words of Kevin, “If you have a bad day, go hug a horse I guarantee your day will get a little better afterwards.” We thank Kevin for all his help! 👏

It’s going to be a busy few months for the sanctuary! 😃

February 27 – March 2 - We’ll be at the , booths 402 & 403. Stop by, learn about our efforts to rescue and and cuddle with that will be up for adoption! 🐴🐱 Some kittens will be available after the expo, Sunday, March 2, and some will be available about 2 weeks later.

March 15, 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Adoption event at our sanctuary, with a volunteer orientation. It’s the perfect chance to interact with our horses and cats and find your future bestie. 💞 There will even be opportunities to ride our rideable horses. 🏇 This is sure to be a fun day!

March 18 – 20 – We’re attending the in Fort Worth, TX. 🇨🇱 We’re excited for the chance to meet with other industry experts and learn from awesome presenters! 🎤

April 12, 11 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. - Adoption event at our sanctuary, with a volunteer orientation. This will be another great opportunity to interact with horses and cats and fall in love. 🐴🐱 And yes, there will be chances to ride our rideable horses. Another fun filled day for sure!

Today we welcome to back several of our horses that were at a foster farm. due to financial reasons, the foster can no longer keep them.
Lets welcome back Rex, Bella Moon, Roxy, Rose, Hailly & Apache. We picked up two from the same foster for our ASPCA partner West Virgina Horse Network they will stay with us for a few days.

can be a harsh season for cats. ❄️ It’s important to keep them warm and dry, give them access to sufficient water and food and provide necessary shelter, including bedding. 🐱 Also, anti-freeze products are poisonous to cats, so it’s important to keep them away, as well as de-icer sprays that contain ethylene glycol. Want to help a this winter? 🐈 We have several dozen looking for a loving forever home. 🤗 Some of our cats love life on the inside and others love the adventures of life outside.
