The mission of February Star Sanctuary is to rescue, rehabilitate and provide a permanent refuge to cats and horses in need. We help the community through outreach programs to help children develop compassion for rescue animals at a early age. Teaching our children to respect and protect even the smallest among us is one of the most important life lessons we can pass on. Children and animals are t

he most vulnerable members of society, and abuse to both groups is on the rise. Our goals at the Sanctuary are to give the unwanted a home and to teach children compassion. We aim to build a generation of animal advocates one child at a time.

With Veterans Day on Monday, it’s a great time to think about the equine heroes that served in our armed forces. 🐎 Horses have long been entrenched in military battles, from the days of chariots to the Korean War. In fact, the first evidence of horses in battle dates all the way back to nearly 4,000 BC. Tasked with carrying both soldiers and supplies, being part of a cavalry and performing solo missions, horses have always played a crucial role in both battle and survival. Countless lives have been saved thanks to the bravery and loyalty of horses throughout many wars. These equine warriors deserve our honor and respect not only on , but every day. 🙌

Look at this sweet boy! he helped me do morning chores yesterday. He’s around 14 weeks neutered and had vaccinations up for adoption. We prefer indoor home.

Interesting totally agree with this but just like people some ‘smarter’ than others.

Interesting totally agree with this but just like people some ‘smarter’ than others.

“Horses have the ability to think and plan ahead and are far more intelligent than scientists previously thought, according to a Nottingham Trent University study that analysed the animal’s responses to a reward-based game.

“The horses cannily adapted their approach to the game to get the most treats – while making the least effort.

“Previously, research has suggested that horses simply respond to stimuli in the moment, they don’t proactively look ahead, think ahead and plan their actions – whereas our study shows that they do have an awareness of the consequences and outcomes of their actions,” said the lead researcher, Louise Evans.”
