Yesterday was a feel-good day for our herd at February Star Sanctuary! 🌟🐴

Our horses enjoyed some much-needed chiropractic adjustments, helping their bodies stay aligned, comfortable, and ready for everything from rehab to riding. These sessions make such a difference — easing tension, improving movement, and giving them that relaxed, “I feel amazing” glow we all love to see.

🌟 Gratitude Post — Day 25 🌟

Today, my heart is full thinking about all the incredible horses who have crossed our path over the last 16 years. Each one has brought something different to February Star Sanctuary — wisdom, laughter, lessons, and yes… a little bit of magic. They’ve shaped who we are, shaped our mission, and shaped so many of the people who’ve walked through our fences.

But today, one special soul deserves the spotlight: Indy.
Indy wasn’t just any pony — She was the pony who helped raise my daughter. She taught her patience, confidence, grit, and that unique kind of partnership you only learn from a once-in-a-lifetime pony. She carried her through so many firsts, so many victories, and so many growing-up moments. The kind of pony who doesn’t just teach you to ride… She teaches you to believe in yourself.

We’ve had hundreds of horses come through February Star over the years — OTTBs needing a restart, seniors needing a soft landing, goofy ponies, gentle giants, the spicy ones, and the ones who touch your soul the second you meet them. Each one leaves hoofprints on our hearts. But Indy will always be one of those unforgettable ones — a partner, a teacher, and an anchor in Addy’s childhood.

Here’s to every horse who has been part of our story.
And here’s to Indy — the pony who helped us write some of the best chapters. 💛🐴✨

Long before there were planes, trains and automobiles, there were horses. 🐎 The domestic we know and love have roamed the Earth for thousands of years. Literally. It’s been a really long time... But how long have they been in the United States? 🌎 About 4 million years ago, horses were evolving in the Americas. Unfortunately, about 10,000 years ago, horses were pretty much extinct here. For many years, it was believed that horses began to once again spread through the Americas and Native American tribes in the late 1600s. New research, however, suggests that the Spanish brought horses back to the Americas in the early 1500s. Just like they were for the pioneers who traveled out west and the settlers who stayed in the east, horses were an integral part of life for Native Americans for many centuries. Thanks to their power, speed and agility, horses were used for hunting, traveling and as equine warriors during battle. 🎨 Many were painted before battle in a sacred act believed to protect the horse and give them power. Horses also became a symbol of wealth and status for many. Revered by Native Americans, horses held significant spiritual importance to tribes and were often incorporated into rituals, believed to be a link to the spirit world and a source for healing and strength. The bond between horse and rider was one of mutual respect. During , and all months, it’s important to recognize the important role horses played in the lives of people across America, for several hundred years. From Crow to Navajo, Lakota to Apache, tribes across America respected the horse. Together, we can make sure horses are a part of our lives for generations to come. 💕

🩵 Gratitude Day 24 🩵

Today we want to send a huge thank-you to all of our incredible adopters who take the time to send updates and photos of their February Star alumni. 💙

Those messages and snapshots mean more than you know. Seeing our former cats and horses happy, loved, and thriving truly brightens even the hardest days. Our volunteers light up when those updates come in… and so do I.

Once an animal has been part of our farm family, they always are — and their adopter becomes part of that family too. That connection doesn’t end at adoption day; it grows as we watch them thrive in their new lives.

Every picture, every little story, every “look how well they’re doing!” fills our hearts and keeps us going. Please keep them coming — we cherish every one. 🐾🐴✨

Thank you for staying connected and letting us be part of their journey. 💛

✨ Gratitude Day 23 ✨

Today I’m thankful for the gift of getting back to riding — that feeling of settling into the saddle, taking a deep breath, and remembering exactly why horses are part of my soul. Life is good feeling.

Life gets busy, the days get long, and sometimes we step away from the thing that brings us the most peace. But the moment you swing a leg over and feel that familiar rhythm underneath you… it’s like coming home. The barn becomes quieter, the world feels lighter, and suddenly everything makes sense again.

I’m grateful for every horse who carries us with kindness…
grateful for the confidence riding gives…
grateful for the healing that only time in the saddle can offer.

Here’s to more moments of reconnecting, more mindful rides, and more of that “this is exactly where I’m supposed to be” feeling. 🐎💛

Our Story

The mission of February Star Sanctuary rescues rehabilitates and provides a permanent refuge cats and horses in need. We help the community though outreach programs to help children develop compassion for rescue animals at a early age. Teaching our children to respect and protect even the smallest among us is one of the most important life lessons we can pass on. Children and animals are the most vulnerable members of society, both groups abuse is on the rise. Our goal with this sanctuary is to give the unwanted a home and to teach children compassion. Building a generation of animal advocates, one child at a time.
