At your furry friend's check-up, we'll give them a top-to-tail skin scan. We're looking out for nasty parasites like fleas or ticks, and checking for infections - you know, the mean bacteria, yeast, or other funky fungi. If we find anything fishy, don't worry! We can do some in-depth detective work to find the cause and solve it. We won't miss inspecting their skin's health and how their cute little paw pads are doing. Fun fact: their skin is their largest organ system and any issues there could mean something else might be up.

Thinking about Christmas dinner? Here is a delicious and healthy recipe for festive dog treats to include your best friend in the celebrations! 🎄

Ingredients
2 cups fresh sweet potato puree
1 eggs
1/2 cup oats
3 cups whole wheat flour
3 Tbsp of all natural peanut butter
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 salt (optional)

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Peel and cube two medium sweet potatoes and bring to a boil in pot of water. - Reduce to low and simmer approximately 15-20 minutes or until soft. Drain cooked potatoes and puree using blender or food processor.
- In small bowl, stir together the flour, oats, and cinnamon.
- In a separate large bowl, whisk together the egg, sweet potato and peanut butter until combined. Stir wet ingredients into dry.
- Pour onto a floured surface and roll dough out to 1/4 - 3/8 thick. Cut out using Christmas cookie cutter. The dough will be a little sticky, dust your hands and the rolling pin with a little flour to help!
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.
- Place on cooling racks and let cool thoroughly. They will harden as they cool.

Notes
The salt can be added to help extend the shelf life of these treats but is not necessary. Do not use a pumpkin spice blend or anything that may contain nutmeg as it is toxic to dogs, even in small amounts!

Today is National Black Cat Day!

"We have an almost 4 y.o. lab/shep mix (Zoë Jolene Wigglesworth) who was diagnosed with arthritis when she was 9 mos. old. She's had surgery on three of her limbs when we lived in Illinois. We've been here a year and have had Zoë at AWRC for a full year. She's made amazing progress and I could not be happier with the staff and Dr. Pittman. We are never rushed through a therapy session or office visit. We feel heard and know that Zoë is receiving the best care possible. Applause to Taylor, Julian, John, and Hannah who are all so kind, attentive, detail-oriented, and playful. Zoë loves seeing all of you. "We had an appointment yesterday and I was so touched by Dr. Pittman's affection toward our girl. When she finished Zoë's adjustment she gave her a hug and a kiss on the head.
