What a YEAR!!! Happy New Year from the crew && I

Thank YOU All for your support this year! I started scavenger hunts as a way to give my reactive dog clients a safe and fun way to get their dogs out and it BLEW up! I appreciate every single one of my private clients and the absolute WORK they’ve put in to build and transform their relationship with their dog and facilitate their learning!

I did not plan to spend the last 1/4 of the year with 6 dogs but I was blessed with two foster pups that needed my help and they’ve blossomed! It’s been trying, it’s been sad and it’s been tough and most of all heartwarming and rewarding but giving tree, all your goodies you’ve sent them, Dee & Josh from Dee’s Farm & Petsitting and some amazing trainer friends have been my saving grace in getting these guys to being their best selves after all they’ve been through! It’s reminded me of the amazing people I have in my life, all of you including the boys in your Christmas gifts and the absolute amazing amount of peanut butter we received for Christmas…. Yall just get usssss!

I refuse to ever give up on an animal because things get tough, I will never give up on a client or not advocate for a dog as long as they’re trying. I will never just turn a blind eye to a dog who needs a soft place to land and a second chance, it’s just not me. And I’ll own that forever and always. And I will hold anyone not doing their part and being all talk with their dogs or ethics accountable! I’m here to teach, learn and propel forward!

Anyways I can ramble forever but we’re ready to open our hearts and teach & learn like never before in 2024!!

Merry Christmas from my crew to yours!!

Our fave stuff!!!

No more leaving paste in the pouch! We’re now making it easier to get every last drop of Bam’s Beets and Lua’s Fermented Golden Paste into the bowl.

We take packaging very seriously … and we don’t always get it right on the first time. But your feedback is valuable to us and we heard you loud and clear — the pouches were a pain!

So we’re excited to introduce our new, easier-to-use, recyclable containers!

The actual containers will look slightly different than the renderings shown here. The cup and the lid are transparent so you can see exactly what you’re getting. They’ll be hitting stores within the next couple weeks.

Keep an eye out!

We know that it's hard to not include your pet during the festivities. But it's really critical that we prioritize their health and happiness above all else.

Excluding your pet from festivities when it's in their best interest is an act of responsible and loving pet parenting. It shows that you prioritize their well-being and happiness above the desire to include them in every aspect of your life.

Important information!

Our dogs might not be able to tell us with words if they aren't feeling well, but they can often display physical signs. Are you listening? Click on this photo or check out our linked blog post to learn more.

This is why we feed fresh!

This is why we feed fresh!

PLEASE SHARE THIS CRITICAL SAFETY INFORMATION WITH YOUR VET
Yesterday we learned that a random test of 35 different dry foods sold in the EU were ALL contaminated with pathogenic bacteria that can lay you on your ass. Every single one of them.

Last month we learned a random sample of healthy, dry-fed dogs house more species of E.coli (and in greater numbers) in their guts and around their a**s than raw-fed dogs. Imagine if this had been the other way around?!

(All studies are below in the comments).

Then I'm reminded of a recent analysis of the last three years (2019-2022) of pet food recalls for hazardous microbiology in the US, conducted by the awesome Susan Thixton of Truth About Pet Food.

She found that 7,793,497lbs (3.5mil kilos, 3535 tonnes) of pet food had been recalled due to pathogenic bacteria contamination (excluding a large recall by the dry food company Sunshine Mills recall for which there was no data).

Dry pet food was responsible for 7,647,643 lbs – 98% of all pathogenic bacteria recalls.

Cooked pet food was responsible for 122,526 lbs – 1.5% of all pathogenic bacteria recalls.

Raw pet food was responsible for just 23,328 lbs – 0.3% of all pathogenic bacteria recalls.

Note that, during all that time, dry pet food accounted for just 59% of total pet food sales.

And the net result of all this contamination? Humans are being harmed. 2006 - 2016, 132 people were poisoned by pet food in the US. Four different studies reveal every single one of them was due to dry food. Of the 132, half of them were toddlers under two years of age. Imagine again, if this was real food doing the damage?! They'd be apoplectic.

The safety of our pets apparently aside (not only do a multitude of studies indicate clear health benefits of feeding real food to pets with ZERO studies suggesting dry food is more beneficial for anything at all, but dry pet food has killed tens of thousands of cats and dogs over a multitude of instances in the last two decades. Complete raw? Less than 10. Is this not important information for the vet sector sworn to protect ANIMALS...not humans, we have a health sector for that?), it appears, for reasons best known to themselves, the veterinary industry is stubbornly pointing the fear-finger at the wrong product and people ARE getting harmed.

Enough now.

Do not let them perpetuate this myth anymore. Call it out with this information every single time you see it and it will become so embarrassing for them to lead with it that it will go away in favour of the next fear-du-jour.

🐾 ADOPT-A-BULLS 🐾

I have two energetic male bully fosters that are ready to start meeting potential adopters/families. They have been on the farm with us for two weeks. They are very weary of new things and have since learned that farm animals and cardboard boxes are safe to check out and that they need to be gentle with them! They are gaining confidence and learning by the day! They have never seen things like liki mats and certain toys til they got here and we’ve been working extremely hard on socializing them with all the things we could possibly think of both in house, out of house, garage, car, animals etc. at their own pace.

Both boys came from a very abusive situation from what we can tell, they were malnourished & scared up when the first temp foster got them. They were found dumped in a park in NJ. They passed their initial exam with flying colors and have received their first round of boosters. Their neuter dates are in December, if you adopt and choose to take them to your own vet, that’s fine, I just need proof of neuter after it’s done!

🚫 No Cats for either dog

🚫 Slow, positive & did I mention slow introductions need to be made with other animals. We are working to gain more info on their behavior with other animals but we are respecting their need for progressive & positive interactions over time and not rushing it.

🚫 These two will not thrive in a daycare or dog park environment

‼️ Bully Breed Experience REQUIRED, this is a non negotiable these boys need to be able to constructively burn energy outside and keep their brains busy with chews, stuffed frozen enrichment & play inside.

‼️ Potential adopters will sign an alteration contract ( that they will be neutered if not already done upon adoption ) & a first right of refusal contract (that if for any reason you are rehoming them you will contact me first)

‼️ They are not yet fully potty trained but they are close! Both can go 3-4 hours without a mess during the day and 6-9 hours over night.

‼️ Adoption fee to cover veterinary expenses applies, they have been lucky enough to have many generous friends buy them treats, toys, food, leashes & collars!

✅ Both boys have met over 15 humans all different ages, sizes etc and have done wonderfully with all respectful human greetings they are LOVERS

✅ Both Boys are 5-6 months old, around 35 pounds currently & need to go to separate homes, they have some creative differences that will not be a healthy mix long term.

✅ Both boys have met various respectful children, they’re good with them but they are STRONG, my toddler loves being knocked down so she doesn’t mind but most other kids & parents do, we are working on their manners but I don’t suggest small children because of their strength & exuberance.

✅ Both Boys are receiving one on one training with a credentialed trainer (me) that is offering two transfer sessions to whatever house hold takes them so they can learn what they know!

A little about them separately

🐶 Draco 🐶

LOVES walking & hiking & running in the fence. He’s beginning to learn how to play tug a war and seems to really like that too.

Draco is going to be a Velcro dog, following you all around the house, wanting to be with you and do activities such as hiking & lots of sniffy walks! He loves being on the long line out in the field and his recall is wonderful so far!

This boy loves to jump!! If you have a fence it better be solid. He is not the biggest fan of tie outs but is learning to like them if it means he can be outside playing.

When he gets nervous or is unsure he barks and wants to check it out.

We have had some good interaction with a female dog his size. He’s done well on walks with other dogs. He needs redirection as he can get very fixated on other animals. With redirection and an alternative cue he listens well & responds.

His favorite chew so far is antlers and this boy can CHEW, he enjoys his kongs and his chews while he snuggles on the couch or blankets but only after he’s gotten his energy out playing, running etc. When you come inside he will bring you his favorite stuffed animal and his tail will go a mile a minute!

🐶 Atlas 🐶

HUGE fan of fetch (with his stuffys, not sure about balls yet) & tug a war, absolutely needs the outlet of playing fetch or tug a few times daily and loves running around in the fence with his human friends!

We’ve had some good interactions with female dogs his size, but he needs to build a lot of dog-dog social skills and breaks. We have been working on his confidence & jumping quite a bit!

Atlas is happy chewing independently from his human friends or laying on the couch or in the grass getting belly rubs. He will not pass up a single cuddle. He loves hanging out after he gets his energy out or finishes his bones.

His favorite chew so far is marrow bones or red barn stuffed bones, he won’t pass up a dental chew, kong or anything food related at all really!

When he sees something that scares him he usually cowers and slowly creeps towards it. If he’s backed into a corner by a dog and uncomfortable he will growl or snap, we are working on his confidence and comfort with other dogs.
