Every time someone tells us they were referred to our clinic, this is us. 🥹💙

Knowing that someone trusted us enough to recommend us to their family or friends is something we’ll never take for granted. Every referral is more than a compliment—it’s a reminder of the trust our community places in us, and we’re honored to care for the pets (and people) who call this community home.

Thank you for every recommendation, every kind word, and every review. It truly is an honor to serve this community, and we’ll continue striving to earn that trust with every visit. 🐾

🐴 Case File #3: Danny - Corneal Ulcer

This week’s farm call took us to evaluate a horse with a swollen eye that presented with a lot of discharge. After performing a complete physical exam, Dr. Malthaner completed a thorough ophthalmic examination and used fluorescein stain to confirm a corneal ulcer.

To support healing, he was started on some eye drops medication as well as collecting a blood sample to prepare autologous serum—a treatment made from the horse’s own blood that contains natural proteins and growth factors to help the cornea heal.

One thing we love about providing farm calls? Every visit is tailored to your pet in the comfort of their environment. Each farm call is also an opportunity to evaluate your horse’s overall health, answer questions, and provide proactive recommendations to help keep them feeling their best.

Thanks for joining us for this week’s Case File and experiencing a real behind-the-scenes look (and sounds!) of life on an equine farm call. We’ll see you on the next one!

The work doesn’t stop when the office closes. 🎧

Even after hours, Dr. Guzman is hard at work—this time listening to a podcast on integrating new, advanced diagnostics into patient care.

As we get closer to opening our new clinic in just a few short months, every detail matters. From researching the latest diagnostic technologies to finalizing plans for our new space, every decision is made with one goal in mind: providing our patients with the highest level of care.

The future is taking shape, and we can’t wait to welcome you through our doors.

Stay tuned… exciting things are coming. 🏥✨

This week’s Medical Monday takes us on a farm call to meet Danny, a beautiful Arabian horse who was diagnosed with a corneal ulcer—a painful scratch or wound on the surface of the eye that requires prompt treatment to protect vision.

Join us today for our Medical Monday with Dr. Malthaner as we head out into the field to see how we care for patients like Danny right where they are most comfortable.

Our veterinarians are proud to bring expert care directly to your farm, providing timely treatment for horses and other large animals where they’re most comfortable. And whether it’s a horse in the pasture or a pet at home, Deep Roots is here to care for animals of all sizes with compassion and expertise.

We’re wishing Danny a smooth and speedy recovery! 🐴💙

✨ Stay tuned for Wednesday! We’ll be sharing a closer look with more photos and videos from the farm call so you get a glimpse at how we provide care right in the field.

The surgery may be over, but our care is just beginning.

After every major surgery, our patients are never left to recover alone.

As they begin waking up from anesthesia, they can feel groggy, confused, and vulnerable. That’s why one of our veterinary technicians provides constant care as they wake—carefully monitoring their vital signs, managing their comfort, and providing gentle reassurance every step of the way.

For Jax, that meant comforting hands, calm voices, and a dedicated team making sure he woke up feeling safe and supported.

It’s a part of the recovery process that most pet owners never get to see, but it’s one of the most important. Healing doesn’t end when surgery is complete—it continues with compassionate, attentive care from the moment they begin to wake up.

We’re so happy to see Jax recovering so well, and we’re honored to be part of his journey. 💙🐾

Part 2 of Jax’s TPLO journey is here. 🐾

Last week, we answered your most common questions about TPLO surgery and took you into the operating room, following Jax’s procedure from surgical preparation through joint exploration and debridement as the TPLO began.

Today, we’re completing the journey—from the osteotomy (the carefully planned bone cut) to plate placement, stabilization, and closure.

Every step is performed with precision and purpose to help restore stability to the knee after a torn CCL.

Our goal with this series is simple: to make veterinary medicine easier to understand while giving you a behind-the-scenes look at the care, teamwork, and precision that go into every procedure.

Thank you for following along with Jax’s story and allowing us to share a behind-the-scenes look at the medicine, teamwork, and care that go into every procedure at Deep Roots Animal Clinic.

If you have questions about TPLO surgery or recovery, leave them in the comments—we’d love to have our docs answer your questions!

Imagine hearing THIS everyday…👀

Welcome to vet medicine.

That loud sound? It’s our IDEXX analyzer running bloodwork to help us get fast, accurate answers right here in the clinic. The sooner we have results, the sooner we can make informed decisions and start the right treatment for your pet.

It may be one of the loudest sounds we hear all day, but it’s also one of the most important. We’ll gladly listen to it if it means helping your pets feel better, faster. ❤️🐾

Most people assume TPLO surgery is about repairing a torn ACL… but that’s actually not what happens.

In this week’s Medical Minute Monday, Dr Guzman is breaking down what TPLO surgery is actually accomplishing and why it’s one of the most successful procedures for dogs with a cruciate ligament tear.

Understanding the “why” behind the surgery can make the recovery process a lot less overwhelming for pet parents.

🐾 Did your dog have TPLO surgery, or are you preparing for one? Drop your questions or share your experience in the comments—we’d love to hear from you and answer any questions you have!

The patients are taken care of… now someone check on the doctor. 😂

We’re so grateful for the trust our community places in us every day. 💙 Have a wonderful weekend—we’ll be back Monday during normal business hours, rested and ready to care for your pets!
