To improve the quality of life for rez pets through education, spay/neuter, pet wellness assistance & the re-homing or networking of abandoned or unwanted pets on Pine Ridge! Only through a network of volunteers and partnering organizations, both on and off the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, can OPP help needy pets. We appreciate your on-going support of our efforts.
This little squish came into our program Friday …. She has some growing to do and then will be ready to have a family of her own. She’s as sweet as can be and more than likely a shepherd mix. We are so glad she’s safe and now loved ❤️. Welcome to OPP little pup, we got you !

Bottle baby face all grown up! Look at this sweet boy Oh Henry! He’s ready for a family to call his very own. He is a super sweet and loving boy who loves to cuddle. He can be very vocal due to possibly some husky breed in him. He loves playing with the other dogs and in the doggy pool. He enjoys toys and is super food motivated. He is quiet at night in his kennel and has made friends with the kitties too. Oh Henry is such a good boy overall. He is working on potty training but he’s still a baby so will need consistency in his new home too. Applications for this little boy can be requested by emailing [email protected]
Big pretty eyes and little hairy ears these two are quite the pair! Agatha and Alistair are as cute as they come. Snuggly go go’s they have personality plus. These guys are siblings to the Olympics litters (3 litters one family) Agatha (black medium haired) is super cuddly and loves attention. She talks to you and will seek you out to let you know she’s here for love. Alistair (grey) thinks he’s an independent boy who can do what he wants to 😂. He “accepts” love from humans but doesn’t crave it like his sister. These two use their litter boxes and are great with the other dogs and cats in their foster home. We have a lot of sweet kittens in the program right now so please take a second and share them so we can find great home! Remember we are all foster based so we can’t help more in need until these sweethearts find homes!
Meet the Olympic Litter! These five ladies are all elite kitten athletes, ready to win gold in your heart.
Relay is the smallest. She came to us with some medical needs, so she's a winner of multiple medals. She's won gold in speed climbing, silver in bug hunting, and bronze in wrestling.
Pole Vault was a repeat medal winner this year, coming home with gold in decathlon again.
Javelin was a rookie Olympian but brought home gold in taking up personal space.
Discus came back with silver in yelling at her foster mom for food. A Canadian kitten edged her out in the last round.
And Shot Put was another multiple medal winner. She won gold for fluffy coat wearing, silver in balance beam, and bronze in surfing.

Our 3 Oglala Pet Project (OPP) foster kittens are growing up! Earl Grey and London Fog are 17 weeks old now and Orange Pekoe is 15 weeks old. Earl Grey and London Fog are brother and sister. London Fog is the calmest of the three. She's a sweet girl who loves a lap to sit in. Earl is a sweet boy too but likes to play rough with the other two at times. Orange Pekoe is a hoot. She is such a little character. She likes to be involved in everything you do. She's go go go all the time. All three of them love toys and climbing on the cat trees. They are around other cats in the home and also our dogs. They have not been around children though. Orange Pekoe plays rough too and might be a bit much for young kids at times. A dump baby, weeks later still a safe baby. Teremana is the happiest pup you will meet. She’s around 3 months old and is ready for an adventure buddy. She’s kennel trained and doing well with her potty training. She does great with the other dogs in her foster home and doesn’t mind the kitties. She loves to adventure outdoors and hasn’t met a toy she doesn’t love. She gets a wild streak sometimes but zonks out in her dog bed or snuggled up on the couch. Meet Walter. This little six month old terrier chi mix is ready for a home to call call his own. He loves snuggles and naps and he is quite the little character. This little guy will stay small. Through our spay program his momma was fixed so that means Walter is the last of his kind! Took an hour drive to receive these two sweethearts. Their mom had died. They are very sick and underweight but we are fighting. Oral meds, eye meds, warm compresses, smooshing wet kitten food, milk, time and a few extra snuggles. Welcome to OPP our sweet bundles, we got you!
We welcomed these two copilots the other night into foster care. These 4 month old pups are small breed and sweet as can be once they warm up to the situation. The best part is their mom was spayed through OPP so they are the last of their kind! Welcome to rescue babies, we got you!

Fletcher is almost ready for his new home. He has his big “appointment” next week and we hope after that he has a family waiting to adopt him. Dalmatians aren’t a common breed but gosh he’s been fun to get to know his personality. This sweet boy loves to be with you and he’s great with the other dogs in his foster. He’s cute as a button and is a goofball too. If you don’t want to go through the tiny puppy stage but love the teen stage take a look at this boy. He’s working hard on his potty training and learning “good dog” things, he will be neutered and microchipped, UTD on vaccinations, deworming and bravecto. Chuck is waiting, waiting for his perfect home. Chuck was once a baby, thrown in the dump and left to starve and die. Whoever left Chuck and his sisters there also left them with untreated sarcoptic mange. All of this was Chuck last June. Almost a year later this sweet dog has grown into a 100% healthy dog and he is still in foster care. Chuck officially after 12 years of OPP existing is the longest foster resident. Almost a year, how is that even possible? We are asking you to rally your shares together so we can find Chuck a great home! He’s 100% Rez mix. He does great with the two cats and other dog in his foster home. He doesn’t realize he’s not a lap dog and loves to snuggle. He’s housetrained and a good boy! Two and a half weeks ago he was laid out flat. Not moving, barely responsive to voice or touch. He’s kept us on our toes. He’s gained a whole fan club of people hoping for a recovery and yesterday he’s beating all of the odds and rolling in the grass in the South Dakota sunshine! His personality is coming out and we know he’s feeling so much better! Things are still unknown medically including his hearing and eyesight but we are improving one day at a time and that’s all that matters right now. He goes back in Monday to get his stitches removed, his hearing and eyesight checked for any improvements, he will get neutered and vaccinated and all of the good things. Tito we were unsure you would survive to the next day and now you are loving life. With an outstanding vet team, a watchful foster mom and some big love, now we have hope you will one day have a loving family to call your own. We got you! #TeamTito #fightanimalcruelty

My favorite thing about Rez dogs is how tough they are! Little Ms Roison has broken out of the hospital just 48 hours after she was admitted. That’s half the time they projected when she went in. I think we can all say she’s pretty happy to be on the mend and out. She has three medications she will continue at home and also has to be kept apart from friends for a couple of weeks which we know she won’t be happy about. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and donations to help this little pup. She truly is the sweetest ❤️

As we all sit and reflect on the year that comes to a close tonight we are thankful for each and every one of you that has helped us make it through another year together. There are so many people and things that happen “behind the scenes” with OPP to get every animal from rescue to adopted. So many hands and hard work to spay a few hundred animals in the summer. Unknown hours in a day getting animals vaccinations, mange meds, dewormer etc. Our techs scheduling appointments and caring for any animal in the clinic that day. Our volunteers who transport and sometimes go out of their way to get animals where they need to go .... the list goes on. As you get ready for your get togethers with friends tonight we have a small team getting these nine babies and their mom to safety. Tonight they will not sleep outside in the backseat of a car. Tonight they will spend their first New Years together in a warm spot with food and fresh water. Tonight they will be loved, for the first time. Thank you to the volunteers who have worked to rescue these ten. Thanks to our volunteers who care. You make the difference, you make OPP what it is. Happy New Year tiny family, we got you !
