Part 2 Lauren Patoile Interview

Field or Arena?

"Field is definitely my top choice for polo. I love in grass the dynamics of your team. I have grown up on grass and will always prefer it. Grass and arena are two totally different games. I love the openness of grass getting to flat out run is the top five best feelings in the world."

What are your goals in 2026?

"My goals for 2026 season is to hopefully make it to D2 Nationals for Montana university."

Home Club?

My home club is Denver Polo Club I have been there since I was 5 years old!

Other Interests?

When I’m not playing polo, which is hard not to do since I’m always doing it, I enjoy hunting and doing fun activities to keep me moving.

Gratitude?

"I’m so thankful for my Coach Thea she really brings the club together. She’s not only a couch but a good friend that will help no matter what. I’m so grateful for someone like her as my coach. I can’t wait for my team to grow together as we continue to play."

Can't wait to see Lauren reach her 2026 polo goals!

Dill Farms wishes everyone a wonderful new year and hopes to see you all having a great polo season 🐎

Dill Farms, for the Love of Polo, is welcoming in 2026 with our first interview of the year!

Lauren Patoile, is a dynamic polo player with the MSU Team!

Lauren comes from a family that plays polo, and learned to ride since she could walk.

Fun Facts to share about Lauren:

First pony?

"My first pony’s name is Pocket, who is still alive today and doing fun riding lessons with kids that were my age when I had him. He was a great little pony that would take me anywhere even fox hunting."

"My first experience riding a horse that I can remember anyway, was when my parents were playing polo and I rode up on our horse ba****ck. It was funny because he’s the horse that would drop anyone if he got the chance. He was one of my favorite polo ponies."

Why Polo?

"My dad always said to me it’s either this or sit in the trailer. So the obvious pick was to play polo. I committed to this sport when he gave me the option of this or volleyball. We all know how that went."

And...

"Polo is an out of world experience that once you start you will never want to stop. I have been playing for more than half my life and it is engraved in me. I will always find a way to keep playing it."

Other disciplines you've participated in?

"I have done hunter jumper, fox hunting, sorting and cutting. This is what helped me to be a skilled rider and well disciplined. The first thing to being a good polo player is riding, and my background helped me so much."

First time meeting George Dill?

"I first met George Dill when I was 16 in a I/I tournament in California. I was fortunate enough to be able to ride his horses and have played them in many tournaments. "

Favorite Dill Pony?

" My favorite Dill pony is either Caviar or Primavera. These two are amazing well rounded horses that will do anything for you. Caviar is definitely my favorite on grass I always hope to play her in my away strings."

Continued Interview Skyler Bell Part 3

Other interests outside of polo?
"I love to shoot sports photography, and I actually have my own business for polo photography and videography "

What Skyer admires about her coach at MSU, " She is so kind and helpful! Especially since I have the least amount of experience on my team, she really helps me get my riding down!

What do you love most about playing polo for MSU? " Everyone I've met on all the Montana State club teams are so nice, and we all get along really well, which helps a lot! I've also learned a lot from all the players on my team, both in and out of the arena."

I love helping out other photographers, so please be sure to check out Skyler Bells Photography, on Facebook and Instagram.

This week we are excited to share our interview with an outgoing MSU Polo Team Player, Skyler Bell !

We love that Skyler is a Team player, energetic, empathetic, and talkative !

Skyler took a few leisure riding lessons when she was 8 years old, but explained that she really learned how to ride only 3 years ago.

Skyler recalls that her first time riding was at Boston Polo Club with Mark Tashjian and Benji Danials.

She was looking for a sport to play, and her mom saw a Facebook ad for a polo club nearby. She decided to go, and fell in love with the sport!

Continued, Part 2 Maile Drinen

*How Maile found polo!  "Right before COVID, riding opportunities became scarce. Out of curiosity, I took a polo lesson and instantly fell in love. From there, I was blessed with more riding opportunities than ever before, and polo quickly became my passion."

*Now and Then ... " I currently only compete in polo, but I previously competed in rodeo events like barrels and poles, and did low-level jumping when I was younger. These disciplines helped improve my balance, timing, and confidence-skills that all translate well to polo."

*Preferred Venue, "Field. Although I enjoy aspects of arena polo, I love the flow, speed, and rhythm I'm able to get into on the field."

*Polo Goals for the 2026 season, "To build stronger connections with my team and improve my ability to stick on my man consistently."

Maile shared her insight on why she loves playing for MSU.

"I love that my coach, Thea Johnson, isn’t just a coach—she’s a friend and a true part of our team. She makes practices fun and enjoyable while still keeping them informative and productive. She’s always working to help me grow, both as an individual player and as a teammate, and I really admire how invested she is in each of us!

What I love most about playing polo for MSU is the incredible bond I have with my teammates and the connection I’ve built with the ponies. Our team works hard together, supports each other, and truly enjoys being around one another, which makes playing for MSU special!"

Maile, Dill Farms is looking forward to watching, where your 2026 polo journey takes you!

For the Love of Polo with George Dill Farms LLC

This week, we are living polo dreams with an ambitious polo player, Maile Drinen.

Hardworking, Coachable, Competitive, Positive, and Team-Focused is how to best for us to describe Maile Drinen !

Maile plays for MSU Varsity Polo Team, and has a wonderful outlook on life and polo!

When asked what other interests she has outside of polo, Maile shared the following,

"Beyond polo, I love teaching kids how to ride and helping them build confidence around horses. I'm currently studying Equine Sciences at MSU, and when I'm not at the barn or in class, I enjoy hiking, exploring new places, and studying my Bible."

What makes playing polo unique to Maile?

"I love the dynamic "team within a team"---the partnership with your horse and the teamwork with your fellow players. Before polo, I always felt something missing in terms of connection and collaboration, and polo filled that gap."

Maile, first met George Dill Farm Ponies in February 2024 during the Western Region Interscholastic preliminary tournaments. When asked which Dill Farm Pony is her favorite, Maile shared this,

"Maserati is my favorite. She's incredibly handy, never hesitates, and feels like she genuinely wants to play with you. This past weekend at the Aggies Invitational Tournament, she gave me my strongest chukker on both days."

Some fun facts about Maile!

* She learned to ride at age 8.

* Home Polo Club is in Waimanalo, Oahu Hawaii.

* First pony was named Marciella.

" She taught me that a good horse often knows the game better than the rider. The first time I realized this was when a teammate hit a backshot-before I even reacted, she turned, lined up perfectly for the play, and put me exactly where I needed to be. She taught me to trust my horse and stay present."

Part 1
For the Love of Polo with George Dill Farms LLC

We are so excited to share our interview with talented MSU Varsity Polo Team player, Clare Bogart! We met Clare for the first time at the NW Aggie Invitational on November 15th -16th 2025.

Clare shared that, "Stealth is my favorite Dill Pony because she was such a push-button horse. I didn't have to think about riding her when I was playing, I just played the game. When I would ask her to do something, she just did it."

Some fun facts about Clare!

* Started riding at 5 years old.

* "My first pony's name was Jackie. Once I started to advance in polo, I slowly stopped playing Jackie and started playing my parents' horses. Even though I wasn't playing Jackie, I still demanded that he come to all the games so he wouldn't be left alone at our farm. One time, my parents were playing a game in Houston, and as usual, Jackie came with us. When my parents were playing the game, I was a little bored and I tied Jackie's halter to itself and rode around the club and then back to the field and watched my parents play. After they were done with the game, they untacked the horses, and my mom, sister, and I went over to the bleachers and talked with my mom's friends. All of a sudden, I see my dad riding Jackie in the same way I did up to the bleachers. He was a crowd favorite, and so was my sweet pony Jackie"

*Claire's dad, learned to play polo, when he was 12, then played at Texas A&M, and he taught her mom when they got married, then her sister, and then Clare.

*Clare's mom grew up riding hunter jumper, which Clare also participated in when she was young.

*She also barrel raced!

*Clare grew up on a farm, and loved helping work the cows.

* Clare shared this about what disciplines helped her the most when she was playing polo at the same time, " Hunter jumper helped my riding more than my polo game, but barrels helped me learn how to use my legs to turn a horse and lift them off the ground. It also taught me how to ride really hot horses."

*Clare prefers field polo, because that is how she grew up playing polo. She is learning arena polo while in college at MSU.

* Home Club: Houston Polo Club, Houston,Texas

*What makes playing polo unique to Clare?
"It's a team sport and a partner sport. You have to play with 3-4 other players and work with a horse that you might have never ridden before. It's a challenge and a gift at the same time because it makes you a better team player and rider at the same time."

* Clare's polo goals for the 2025 - 2026 Season are:
"I want to work on playing better arena polo. I play like a grass player in the arena, and I want to be a more well-rounded player by learning better arena skills and strategies."

*What she admires about her coach Thea Johnson.
"I love the way I can talk to her as a player, officer, and a person. She's very easy to work with and a fun person to have as a coach. Thea gives her all to our club and it shows!"

*Clare also shared what she loves best playing for MSU
"I love my team. I'm lucky enought to play with an incredible group of people and it makes playing for MSU that much better!"

* Curious about what other interests you may have in common with Clare? She enjoys hunting, playng the guitar, and occasionally drawing.

We can't wait to see where arena polo takes Clare in the future!
